1st designed in 1995, the symbol has appeared across art, fashion, and culture. Much of Murakami's art uses cheerful symbols while pointing to the underlying seriousness of the collective trauma caused by wars and such devastating historical events.

Vincent often painted flower still lifes to practice using colours & contrast. First he mainly had darker colours in his palette, but now he started using bright colours. Vincent wrote that thanks to these flower still lives, he saw lots more colour in the landscapes around him.
