For five years, I have been covering what is unquestionably the biggest criminal justice scandal in American history.
Today it ended when the most corrupt cop in history took his life.
But it's not over.
A thread.
@KatieM606 I was there that day. My sister & I had gone to Chicago to see Hamilton. Arrived the night the Cubs won. The Hamilton cast did an encore of “Go, Cubs, Go!” It ended up on YouTube. We watched the parade the day after somewhere off Michigan I think. Everyone was so nice!
@clhubes I’m an old so if I didn’t have pics I would have a hard time remembering fashion. These are all 2001-2003. This does not show the copious amount of polo shirts and stripes worn during this era of my life.
@panickssery@Archi_icons American and I always learned it as definition #1, but essentially so many Americans believed it meant #2 that the dictionary folks have just caved to their wrongness.
@BolaPalm I mean I worked at a small museum and my employer did not provide insurance. The best I could afford was a plan with a $9000 deductible and it was still $150 a month. Welp, one surgery 3 years ago and I’m still paying off that $9000.
@ashleyrattner No cons to them really in that case. We had an application process for ours. Mostly, we wanted to see evidence of its age and original features, and if you knew who any of the previous owners were and their place in your community.
@ashleyrattner If you are talking about a plaque provided by a local heritage/preservation society then there are generally no rules on those and they are usually free or low cost (we charged $50).
@ashleyrattner The cost for a historical marker can be $2000 or more. And it is usually the responsibility of the applicant to pay for the cost. If this is the kind of marker you refer to. Also, different states will have different quality of research expectations before approving a marker.
@ashleyrattner Last thing, though, regarding changes to buildings listed on the NRHP - while there are no specific rules from them about changes any extreme changes can affect the building or neighborhood’s status on the register.
@ashleyrattner If it’s just a historic marker like those installed by a state historical or heritage society then typically there are not rules on what you can do to your house. NRHP designation for a house or neighborhood also does not mean you cannot make changes or even demolish the place.
@oldenoughtosay Kentucky US - both are spatulas but one is for flipping things like eggs and burgers and one is more for baking so that you fold in the ingredients and scrape the bowl.
@oldenoughtosay Falls of Rough, Ky, auto, and only when parking at any sort of an incline (but I rarely remember to do it). This is the only scenario I remember being taught to use it during driver’s ed and the only time we had to use it on the driving test.
@BrianaRoseLee Was the last time you flew in 1998? Cause baggage is most definitely not free on most airlines and airlines FREQUENTLY lose luggage. I wanna live in your fairy tale universe.
@_bezpilotnik It was never found and to this day I wonder what they did with it and how they moved so fast. (They broke a bunch of cases as well and for some reason left a silver saber behind)
@_bezpilotnik When the museum I worked at was broken into all they took was a giant glass pharmacy display bottle filled with pink colored water from the 1950s. Had to weigh 30lbs. A police chase ensued. Photos show actual object and artist rendering of the theft (by my friend).
