WRAP UP: LG BUDGET CONSULTATIONS FY 2027/28

All workshop centres (Mbarara,Mbale,Jinja & Ridar hotel,Seeta) are finalising the budget consultations with Local Governments presenting recommendations from their technical clinics on key areas of discussion. These are: Local revenue mobilisation and management,tourism development,agro-industrialisation, human capital development,infrastructure services & sustainable urban development.

The Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development (Employment and Industrial Relations),Simon Mulongo is chairing the last session at Mbale Resort Hotel.

As we come to the end of these consultations,we thank all the stakeholders including; Local Governments,MDAs & Civil Society among others who have supported this three weeks exercise across the country.

We have taken note of all the recommendations to improve service delivery and grow the economy Tenfold.These views will be considered during the finalisation of the budget for FY 2027/28.

My goal is to use my social media platforms to document my country’s preparedness to host AFCON 2027, right up to the very last moment.

Whenever I am able to access the facilities and infrastructure projects being developed to serve the tournament, and whenever I am able to raise the resources to facilitate myself, I will get there and bring you the updates.

We are talking about stadiums, training facilities, hotels, roads, hospitals, airports, tourism sites and everything in between.

I want to take you with me as we follow the progress, document the transformation and tell the story of how Uganda is preparing to welcome Africa for AFCON 2027.

And where possible, if I get the opportunity to travel to our neighbouring co-host countries, you will see it all happen here.

This is not just about the football matches. It is about documenting the infrastructure, people, places and opportunities that will shape this tournament and leave a lasting legacy beyond 2027.

Some football matches end when the final whistle blows. Others leave behind a rivalry that refuses to die.

The CHAN 2024 clash between South Africa and Uganda at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, was exactly that. It had everything, tension, drama, and a stadium hanging on every moment.

To me, that game marked the beginning of a football rivalry between the two countries that is yet to be settled.

And then there was our very own football commentator, @jermaine_egesa, who delivered exceptionally on the day. His commentary only added fuel to an already electric atmosphere.

I can’t wait to see more of this drama when AFCON comes to East Africa in 2027.
