Fairly often, my colleague Michael Bamberger publishes a story that makes me say: "Wow, that guy is absolutely the greatest living golf writer."
This is one of those stories. https://t.co/DeMaSwT5dI
Still trying to process a vice-president who has been enabling the worst grift in US history and some of its nastiest social policies coming out with a book called "Communion" to tout his moral bona fides. Chutzpah doesn't come close.
My first thoughts @TheEconomist on the MOU. We should recall the events that led America and Iran to war in the first place: the failure of two previous rounds of nuclear talks, and the mass protests fuelled by Iran's economic crisis.
The MOU addresses neither of these issues.
It leaves the nuclear dispute to be settled in a future round of negotiations, which may not succeed either. And while it provides Iran with some short-term sanctions relief, that is hardly sufficient to pull its economy back from the abyss.
This won't be an acceptable status quo forever, for either side. The risk of a stripped-down deal that purports to end the conflict between America and Iran is that doesn't actually end the conflict after all. https://t.co/OYDfWu5GkZ
Exclusive: Phil Mickelson accused of nonconsensual, inappropriate contact with a female employee at his home course. Following the allegation, he is no longer a member of the club. Our Golf Digest investigation: https://t.co/9oUaElyErq
It wins because it was in a World Cup Finals, versus a qualifier.
But Scott McTominay has the chance to make history wirh yet another goal. In #WC2026 - and I think he will. Because he’s brilliant.
The votes are in and the contest is now over - you have decided that Archie Gemmill's solo effort against the Netherlands at the 1978 World Cup is Scotland's Most Iconic Goal ⚽️🏴

My Dad is my hero, my best mate, & the strongest man I know. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from him, it’s how to face challenges with courage, humour, & dignity
The treatment is going well & he’ll handle this the same way he’s handled everything else in life
Love you, Dad ❤️
Forty-five minutes against 10-man Curacao and you’re parachuted into the World Cup squad ahead of a guy described as a generational talent who’s now playing Serie A. Must have had a brilliant training week. If Fletcher is this good then why wasn’t he in squads before?
Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way.
He leaves with a Premier League title to his name and our deepest gratitude and appreciation.
Absolute nonsense. Half of them (if not more) aren’t even midfielders.
Football has defenders, midfielders, playmakers and strikers/attackers.
How often was Maradona called a midfielder? Not often. Same with Zidane.
I could go on. But no need.
So it’s farewell to the “Press & Journal” after more than 10 years and hence into retirement and a wee break. I laughed at several references in this “front page”, but it reminded me how many people have helped and encouraged me. Thanks to them all. And here’s to the future!
@jamierkennedy The one he hit at St Andrews with Stevie, ‘is that the one you’re talking about?’ is better than that. Especially with the Peter Alliss commentary.
‘That’s the one right there, partner.’
‘That’s the one you’re talking about.’
