@Tagishsimon@amandafrench@metasj@ResearchOrgs Yes - just ran it yesterday, I should probably update the run date on that home page. It’s pretty automatic except I do a couple of things to try to avoid duplicate creation first.
@donaldtheuugeek@sandofsky Ah yes, “divine code” - it comes from the heavens when needed as a burst of inspiration, but no explanation. Not even the author knows how it works.
It's no coincidence that "crypto skeptics" @davidgerard and @molly0xFFF are also respected, long-time @Wikipedia community leaders. Verifiability and reliable sourcing matter for writing an encyclopedia, and also for recognizing fraud.
@alicegoldfuss @jimprall Just this morning I ran into an interesting paper on mastodon on a topic I’d not heard of before (in psychology, not anywhere close to my normal interests). On twitter right now it’s all politics or bemoaning twitter’s decline. Much happier with mastodon at the moment.
@michael_nielsen Do Iain Banks’s GSV ships count? Multi kilometer size with billions of passengers/residents? The descriptions in some of the Culture books seem quite fascinating - though I suppose not far from modern cruise ships in so,e ways.
@michael_nielsen If you have a mastodon account I’m happy to follow you there. It seems fine to me. Better in some ways now that some of my favorite twitter people post there. And cross posting is possible.
@dan_abramov Typical day for me: go to Home tab to see what people I follow have posted or boosted; if I see boosted posts that interest me check out the user and follow if I want to see more of them. Doesn’t matter what server they are on. Local tab can be fun to scroll, then Federated tab.
@MarkBoslough If you click on your profile picture you should see your full mastodon address including server name - it should look something like @markboslough@….. - we can’t find you without the second piece (server name).
@MarkBoslough Ah - once you’re on a server that’s your server. To move you need to create a new account on the new server and then there’s an export-import process.
@MarkBoslough No, it’s federated, you can pick whatever one you want. https://t.co/7rBO76orMf might be good for you though, it’s got lots of academic and climate scientists on it.
@drvolts See you on mastodon in a week David :) with twitter you had to find people to follow too, it’s not that different, we’ve just forgotten how we started on here.
