From Whitehouse’s perspective, a “big change” came during the confirmation process for the “Trump trio” of Supreme Court justices (Neil Gorsuch in 2017, Brett Kavanaugh in 2018, and Amy Coney Barrett in 2020). It was not so much that Grassley changed; “it was the really difficult staff that came in to run those processes in as brutal and partisan a way as they possibly could.”
