When discussing Iran, the president reflexively reverts to the question of whether it is acceptable for Iran to have a nuclear weapon. Obviously, it is not.
But after Operation Midnight Hammer, on June 21, 2025, Trump declared to the world, “Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated.” A few days later he reiterated, “Monumental Damage was done to all Nuclear sites in Iran, as shown by satellite images. Obliteration is an accurate term!” In September 2025, Trump said, “I also obliterated Iran’s nuclear hopes by totally annihilating their enriched uranium.”
But by February 21, Witkoff appeared on the Fox News program of president’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, and warned that the Iranians were “probably a week away from having industrial-grade bomb-making material, and that’s really dangerous.” How did the program go from being “totally annihilated” to a week away from having bomb-grade uranium?
The lesson to be learned from this is that if the US imposes sanctions on you, you should detain as many US nationals as possible on bogus charges, then gradually release them in exchange for sanctions relief or other concessions. Rinse and repeat.
This unhinged and disgraceful crusade against Ukraine is not going to lower energy prices and is not winning the GOP votes in the midterms.
Voters aren't stupid: this whole shtick appears more like unilateral concessions to Russia and petty swipes at Ukraine than an actual effort to support Americans hurt by rising energy prices.
This whole episode is an absolutely humiliating disgrace for Trump. No other way to describe.
Trump: we are running low on ammo not because of my war on Iran but because Biden gave “massive amounts” of Tomahawks to Ukraine.
The U.S. didn’t supply a single Tomahawk to Ukraine.
The fact that this poorly considered plan was ever on the table is a reminder of how this admin often governs: for the online mob. They so desperately want to be seen as alpha tough guys. It’s pretty pitiful.
Oh he is. We have multiple undisputed examples of it from crypto to his social media early access plans to his family’s ongoing business dealings with countries who want something from the US.
The question is only whether you justify or excuse it with deflections to what others have done.
This extraordinary, unjustifiable and grotesque pressure on Ukraine occurs after Russia, not Ukraine, rejected Trump's energy cease-fire and after Russia rejected Ukraine's cease-fire proposal to hold new elections. The U.S. isn't just "unreliable," it's becoming unhinged.
The president has been saying for years that Putin wants to make a deal, but I'd love to know what the evidence of that is. He's the aggressor in this war and regularly attacks civilian targets with no military purpose. He is a war criminal.
Here’s the real question: Why don’t you turn on Starlink over Russia so the Ukrainians can take out Russian ballistic missile launchers? One small action and you immediately save children from dying every day. Refusing to do so is like watching your friend die while you hold his EpiPen over him. It’s that simple.
Not a single Republican in Congress is willing to cosponsor a bill that would actually help Hong Kongers, despite their proclamations of support for freedom in HK. I urge Republicans to break with Xi-admiring Trump, whom a growing number of Americans are turning against.
Who still carries out public executions:
The Iranian regime
The North Korean regime
The Taliban in Afghanistan Al-Shabaab in Somalia
That is not the company we want to keep or the country we want to be.
I wrote today about all the ways Trump is using taxpayer money and official resources for pretty transparent electoral purposes.

He's now backing off of one of them.
