"a rail shutdown would devastate our economy"
So you're saying the livelihoods of all of us, 330 million people, depend on this one group of workers? Their labor benefits all of us that much? It sounds like the least we can do is give them as many sick days as they want
@smokingpancake thing is [and i’m guessing you know this] but even for youngsters hours of sleep / night directly correlates to work quality. most of the all-nighters i’ve pulled (both as a product marketer and later as a dev) consisted of one increasingly stupid idea after another
The nation is NOT “closely divided.”
Republicans have gerrymandered districts so they hold a greater share of seats than their share of votes while millions of voters in DC & Puerto Rico are denied full representation & millions more are denied full voting rights
The fact that “styling a button” is A Thing, is ignoring how the shittiness and fragility of modern web dev has created a tech priesthood that distorts the labor market around software development.
If a C coder can’t style a button, the issue isn’t the C programmer.
@seldo the pentagon papers and watergate caused an entire generation (guess which one) to forget entirely about hearst, chandler, beaverbrook, and those are just off the top of my head
