It’s not inquiry in art class if: 1) the students know what their project is supposed to look like at the end 2) all the steps are predetermined for them 3) the teacher is doing more problem solving than the students @kathmurdoch #tabchat#pypchat#pypart#oscpyp#inquiry
@ESaltador The best advice I got for remembering pronouns was to practice regularly. Visualize the student and repeat the pronoun out loud so your brain makes the connection, especially if you will have them in class that day. Thanks for sharing your story, it will certainly help others.
Something I learned from a mentor teacher many years ago was to view the curriculum as something we explore and discover rather than something we cover.
There’s a big difference.
Contain, Support, Span, Protect--which structure fits best within each category? @TheOSColombo Grade 4 enthusiastically debating and sorting as a provocation into their new unit. #pypchat#HTWW#inquiry
OSC on its DEIJ Journey for 2022-2023. Discussing our personal identities, how others may perceive us and how that understanding supports how we work with our community.
Lunchtime charity fundraiser #disco@TheOSColombo hosted by our amazing students as a finale to their How We Organize Ourselves unit. Well done Grade 4, way to think outside the bake sale box!
@canva I'd love ability to erase around an image without using the BG Magic remover first, the ability to change all of one color to another in one slide (but not across the whole project), simple drawing tools, better/easier organization of projects
@TheOSColombo coffee shop came alive this morning with the efforts of our #IBPYP artists and musicians. From imaginative artwork to young musicians sharing their own compositions, the diversity of the work on display showed the power of voice, choice and ownership in the arts.
PYP Artists from @TheOSColombo showing their #appreciation to the #IBDP artists by composing thoughtful fan letters after viewing the DP Art Exhibit. We are all so grateful to have had this experience in person this year. #ibpyp#IBO
Here we go again with report cards. Is it worth the time? I'm talking to teachers who are again writing report cards, they then have to read through another colleagues, then they are read by someone in admin. Is the time spent worth the information it provides?
@rtjardin@campbellartsoup When we were online I used the Studio Habits of Mind as a focus point for art creation. That way I wasn't dependent on the students having specific materials at home. @theartofed has a great rubric which might be a good jumping-off point for you. Good luck!
Every child has the right, just like White kids, to see themselves in the curriculum reflected meaningfully and accurately. They have the right to learn about truth. Otherwise, it's a "learning loss."
Go fight against that.
