Dr Navdeep Singh's suicide is a great loss to the medical fraternity and I express my sincere condolences.
But does anybody really know the cause behind such a drastic action?
Everybody is blaming residency toxicity.
But life can throw many curveballs well beyond residency.
Mental health is the proximate factor no doubt, but I believe it is premature to draw inferences without hard data.

When people say that someone who seemingly had everything committed suicide is tragic, that's where the problem begins - the problem of comparison. There is NO comparison between the mental health of someone who has achieved everything and someone who hasn't. It affects ALL.
Do not fall prey to misinformation being spread by political stooges and those with vested interests. Everybody is watching how shamelessly some are trying to malign doctors on strike for justice for our colleague who was raped and murdered in cold blood. What would you have done if it were your family member?

Everyone should be enraged. It can't be a doctor's only protest. Didn't that girl do everything that our society expects?
She spent all her life with books and managed to enter a reputed medical college in a city which is considered better than others for women safety.
If she met this fate , who is safe in this country?
How will young girls still dream of becoming a doctor in India?
Since the media won't let go of the government's blatant brokering, let's state:
No services stopped, not even emergencies. The junior doctors are on the streets, on strike for justice, not for comfort. There are senior doctors in the ward. Even things like blood drawing, channeling that they might have done regularly ages ago, they are now doing. No patient is being turned away. It is enough to stand there for 10 minutes to know that the ambulance is entering with a patient. Labor room, Caesar OT, everything is on.
Don't be influenced by the media. A girl was raped and murdered at her workplace while on duty in the city. By calculation, you should be on the road too.

I agree that students need to learn the local language but it definitely helps if there is someone teaching you. The whole "you should have thought of that before joining in a Tamil speaking state" is unfair. These are 17-19 year olds mostly, you don't know anything, you're just+
One thing tourists seem to enjoy almost more than anything else is simply sitting at a cafe in a charming old square of the sort they don't have in their own city.
They're not working, they're not at home, there's nice architecture, and there are no cars.
Simple as that.
