#Opinion | "There is an urgent need to have an official estimate of the poverty line and bring in policy changes to impact the lives of the social groups less fortunate"

Air pollution is not just India's problem—it's a transboundary crisis!
The stubble burning isn’t just happening in Indian states but beyond our borders.
Fire incidents outside & within India are higher this week, and the wind is blowing smoke into the cities.
Take a look at the maps:
Map 1 shows: Fire incidents in the last seven days. Red dots = fire incidents; Air quality stations = pollution intensity
Map 2 shows: Fire incidents in the last 24 hrs.
Map 3 shows: Fire incidents today.
This isn’t a question of who’s responsible for the pollution—the geospatial maps clearly show the sources and locations! And guess what?
These fires aren’t just daytime events. Comparing the last 24 hours with today's incidents, it seems the night fires are equally intense, which means vigilance and enforcement should step up after dark, too!
Transboundary cooperation is vital to protect the air we all breathe. Let's act before it's too late.

Mad fun. Listen! 🙂
@arunkaush and I wrote this in @livemint a week ago. We showed that in past elections Congress suffers in seats but not in votes. In last 9 VS elections, in four of the six elections Congress lost, it had the highest votes! See graphs.
In such cases the devil is in the margins!
#Opinion | "#Karnataka not only stands apart from other South Indian states in its broad political dynamics, its electoral politics displays fine patterns that are remarkably peculiar," @yugank_goyal & @arunkaush write.

@smudgal@yugank_goyal@WestlandBooks@karthikavk@pkm370 Thanks ma'am. It might have been a fanboy moment mistake.
Had the privilege of presenting a copy of our book, "Who moved my vote", to the legendary singer, Padma Sri Shubha Mudgal, at Jindal Global university.
Speaking at Gokhale Institute on our book. Will also discuss the numbers behind the recently held Gujarat and HP elections. Swing by, if you’re around.

As we celebrate #votersday on our way to #RepublicDay2023, here are some choices from our bookshelves that we are going back to, to understand our politics and electoral process better.
