Under Congress Rule
-CBI & other agencies used to interrogate then CM Modi ji regularly for years in 2002 riots case. They used to make him sit for the whole day.

-Amit Shah ji was arrested in a fake case & was banned from entering his own state Gujarat

Later both of them got a clean chit by SC. None of them created "democracy under attack" type noise, followed the process, co-operated with agencies & came out clean.

Democracy was working fine then? That wasn't harassment?

Today if ED summons any opposition leader just for questioning, the opposition start calling it an attack on democracy even though they're guilty, ED has all the proofs against them & the court has approved them.

Amit Shah on the Manipur issue in Parliament today:

1) No former Home Minister ever came to Manipur during past riots. He & his MoS Nityanand Rai spent 3 & 23 days respectively to sort out the situation.

2) The clash took place on 3rd May 2023. The central government changed the chief secretary and DGP on 4th May 2023. A Special Advisor from Surat was appointed by the 4th of May itself. 36,000 CAPF personnel deployed using the help of the Indian Air Force.

3) The border between Manipur and Myanmar is fenceless. The work of fencing was first started by the BJP government in 2022 after the influx of Kukis increased from Myanmar. 10 Km of Trial Fencing completed. Work on the next 7 Km is ongoing and 600 Km is under the Survey.
An initiative like this is taken for the first time.

4) From January 2023 registration of Kuki immigrants or infiltrators from Myanmar started by the government. Biometric data was taken and was listed under the negative list for Aadhaar and Voter cards.

5) Influx of Kukis from Myanmar was caused by the crackdown on the Kuki Democratic Front in Myanmar by the ruling Military Junta because the front wanted to restore democracy in Myanmar.

6) Not a single case of curfew, strike, or blockade in 6 years of BJP's rule in the state.

7) The final nail in the coffin was hit by the Manipur High Court when they presented a judgment on the ST status of Meiteis without hearing the government's opinion. This led to the clash on 3rd May.

8) Article 356 was not applied in this case because the state government cooperated on every terms and conditions of the Central Government while dealing with the issue. This is applied when govt is not cooperating.
