In response to @USDA detecting one case of New World Screwworm in a calf in South Texas, NCBA CEO Colin Woodall released the following statement:
“NCBA and our state partner organizations have been working for more than a year to combat the incursion of the New World Screwworm, and we are doing everything possible to protect the interests of American cattle producers. We appreciate USDA and other agencies for working rapidly to bolster critical resources that protect producers, including building a domestic sterile fly facility, increasing fly surveillance, and expediting the availability of necessary drugs and treatments for cattle. We defeated this harmful pest before in the 1960s by investing heavily in sterile fly dispersal and NCBA will continue using every tool in the toolbox to ensure Screwworm is eradicated in the U.S. once again.”
@Iowacrops Brad, I think you're wrong. The insurability of any commodity only occurs after it's been requested and rated. That's why ni corn is $20/acre in KS and $5/acre in Iowa. Add in AAA ratings, low aph, etc. on poor crop ground and it becomes extremely hard to afford.
@DryCedarFarms I think it's a typo. The report I read said it was found on a sheep 31 miles from the border. You're correct, it's probably already here, just hasn't been confirmed yet.
The report I read said 31 miles. Either way it is inching closer. Do you have your cattle locked in? Either on the board or LRP? Don't get caught in the volatility soon to come.
This is not true. We have no confirmed case within 1 mile of the border.
As we have done for the last 15 months, we will continue to share all information. If a case in proximity is confirmed, we are ready.
NCBA's Ethan Lane and the full Jackass quote. I have no problem being called a jackass, and I am proud of my time in cornfields. I do have a serious problem with being accused of threatening people and causing death threats. While we know for a fact he is lying about us threatening anyone, what we don't know without evidence is if his wife has ever received a death threat. What this is, is a lame attempt to discredit us, and to get people to disassociate from us. Referencing the podcast and myself without naming names is a completely gutless way to go about things. It's also a perfect example of how they operate. They lie to your face, give you absolutely no details and then expect you to trust them. Trust them with your dues, your checkoff dollars, and with government policy for the entire cattle industry. You don't need to know the details, just trust them. We operate differently. We search out the details, lay them all on the table, and let you decide. I spent hours searching for the couple of sentences that were ever said referencing his wife. If his wife truly was threatened hopefully he will provide more details and we can help expose the kind of psychopath that would've listened to this and then threatened her life.

#Raiders
@RAIDERSHUB I know. Just saying I think they've improve enough to win 7-9 games when I get the schedule and as the season/camps go on I may change my opinion. But that's where I'm sitting right now.
