Whenever I check Instagram or LinkedIn I just see my friends from college living their low prestige, unambitious lives. They think their regular job in tech or investment banking is so cool, it's so unbelievable. And they just hang out with their friends on the weekends??? Wow that's so inspiring. It's so depressing thinking about being a normal person like that, could never be me. Like how are they just content being a software engineer or an associate in IB? My net worth EV is definitely higher than theirs anyways. My love for life and insatiable hunger for status would never let me be so complacent. I'm actually trying (successfully for the record) to be somebody. My line of work and what I choose to do in my spare time is so much more tasteful, interesting, and spiritually grounded. Like, you could write a book about me or shoot a documentary about my life. I wish I could help them. Hopefully they see this tweet.
you can physically feel the pain in your heart
you go to sleep with it, you wake up and you have like 3 seconds before your brain remembers you’re heartbroken and you carry it again. everyday for like 6 months
man. 14 years ago i had just graduated college after going through the worst breakup of my life to that point, i would have trouble sleeping for years afterwards. on our MIT brass rats they put a cheeky reference to the mayan apocalypse like "haha isn't it funny people thought the world was going to end in 2012." meanwhile i was about to leave behind the best friends i had ever made forever, and i had also just started reading lesswrong, and i was about to move to berkeley for grad school where i would get sucked into the rationality community. 14 years ago was the last time i was straightforwardly happy, before the singularity began to sit inside my mind as a black hole gradually sucking the meaning out of all things
oppa gangnam style
you must believe you are special and then go so hard, for so long, with such violent refusal to accept any other ending, that reality itself starts running out of ways to tell you no. you must wage a war daily against the ordinary outcome, until the belief you invented out of nothing in a room by yourself has been hammered into the world so many times that it stops being a claim and becomes reality.
@paraschopra We don't have to necessarily build top of the line text models. We can innovate and build stuff like the countless other AI companies in USA, other than the big 3-4.
@rationalGuyy@ishy_194@Marksman_24@aravind man you're really dumb, I said we had a decade of stability after 2014 where a single party ruled ( which is also the ruling party currently ). I never said things were good OR had before 2014. Again, please tell me, what do you do. I'm sure you can't be employed
@rationalGuyy@ishy_194@Marksman_24@aravind Spoiler alert because ur so retarded : I never said that, I don't like congress either, you're really really dumb. What do you do as a job?
@arnavmehta007 I need this. Running some experiments on representation learning + building an AI native startup. Plan to release research also, compute is a bottleneck for now.
@rationalGuyy@ishy_194@Marksman_24@aravind Btw you're the dumbest one here, like literally, others at least are saying something, you're adding nothing to the convo. I can't imagine you can vote
@Marksman_24@sumita_to@aravind "There's no easy way out, you have to grind"😭 cope. Because things are bad, you're saying there is no easy way out, just grind. This is not about me, get out of yall's bubble. I'll be very fine, even if the economy crashes, have some empathy for your fellow countrymen.
@ishy_194@Marksman_24@aravind I neither said I hate the party nor did I say I hate the country. My patriotism is the exact reason I can see these issues so clearly. We could have done way way better, if you are content with our progress, you hate your country.
