A hotel struggling with a barrage of fraud and fake bookings would jump at any potential real customer. They wouldn’t turn away a potential customer if they are struggling, they’d work to keep the sale and if necessary ask for additional verification so they can secure the reservation.

People’s responses are less a criticism of you and your idea, but the exposure of our need to feel right, or demonstrate that we know better, and our need for recognition. We do so by nitpicking. We do this carelessly. We do this before fully digesting what someone said or considering what they truly mean. And even when we are correct, the nitpicking itself undermines it. 🤔
