A teacher rescued from the Oriire school abduction in Oyo State, Zachery Olatunde, has dismissed claims that the kidn@pping was staged, revealing that the abductors occasionally washed the captives’ clothes during their 56 days in captivity.

Speaking in a video shared by Oyo Matters, Olatunde said the kidn@ppers decided to wash their clothes whenever they noticed the captives had become dirty and smelly, explaining that this was why some of the rescued victims appeared cleaner than many expected.

He also addressed criticism over pupils wearing matching ankara outfits after their rescue, clarifying that the attire was in line with the Oyo State policy requiring primary school pupils to wear native clothing on Fridays.

The teacher insisted the abd¥ction was genuine, pointing to the de@ths of two victims during the ordeal as proof that the incident was not fabricated. He urged Nigerians to stop spreading false narratives, stressing that the victims endured a tra¥matic experience.

The pupils and teachers, who were abd¥cted from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, regained their freedom on July 10 following a joint security operation involving multiple security agencies. The Presidency maintained that no ransom was paid for their release.
