@awesomekling I agree with almost all of his points. AI does help you in a lot of ways. But the point about headcounts implies that layoffs are inevitable. He says that they expect autonomous agents to effectively be a substitute for people which me feel really sad , whether its true or not.
@awesomekling i am a sophmore in cs rn so i am biased but i def don't wanna be replaced . if it becomes better but still stays as a really powerful and handy learning tool + a literal copilot that makes me code faster and better . also i don't think i'd like to watch ai movies
@endpoint arc has the best UI but for windows people at least not the best UX . Feels very slow and stuff breaks every now and then.
notion doesn't have an offline mode and is slow but not a lot of options for collabs .
@kepano sad to see this. spotify is probably the only subscription that is cheap (for me as a student) and still worth it rn. but i have been looking to switch over to yt music (which again doesn't fundamentally differ from spotify and may suffer too) but has virtually all music .
@LiveOverflow the only thing im scared of is offloading the thinking part to AI as well , since from my crude understanding, it can help discover patterns and reuse existing ideas but novelty is difficult
@LiveOverflow exactly, as a complete novice i feel AI isn't and can't be 100% reliable for at least 2-5 years. there is so much foundation that humans have that only they can impart the nuance of things. However for getting the major 70% done AI is just really fast for research and summarizing
@theo idk your setup but if i was in the apple ecosystem i would just use bear notes. it isnt as powerful but its simpler and you can focus on actually taking notes rather than configuring everything in obsidian. this is why i stick with minimal changes in obsidian as well
@Captain2Phones or the best , go back to the dual tone panda design. some of my favourite looking phones are those pixels and the oneplus 7 pro of 2019 , both the hardware and the software. material you doesn't hit the same for me although it definitely is bolder and more personal
@Captain2Phones the only reason i like some of the renders is that it reminds me of essential ph1 and i really liked that phone's design even if it was minimal . i'd loved for them to add more character to this tho while still keeping the design aesthetic .
@zack_overflow exactly , i feel if everyone only built software that are trendy , like building AI tools right now and web before, eventually you lose people who actually know the fundamentals. not everyone needs to know but if you're interested , i think you should do it just for the fun even.
@awesomekling As someone who's experienced as a developer , what is your opinion on AI eventually replacing software devs? As an upcoming CS graduate I am really scared about my future in this industry and I don't know other alternatives I have. I'd love to know what are your thoughts on this.
@DaveMcNamee3000 one of my friends really hyped up the movie for me when it was the most stock movie plot of all time and the action wasn't even that good. i'm convinced i'd have enjoyed it more if not for his glowing recommendation
