@jasonfurman "Some faculty developed creative assignments and teaching methods that incorporated AI thoughtfully."
The more widely disseminated these assignments and methods can be, the more we can salvage of what is good about college level teaching.
@jasonfurman The professionalism of the faculty member should prevent grade inflation. Absent that, simple monitoring from the academic unit should correct it. Absent that, you get policies like these. Positive steps. Not big and brave. Try this one over a decade ago: https://t.co/mgJWlVfXgJ
@OrinKerr Grade inflation describes a change in distributions of grades over time. Students don't know more or work harder (eliminating 1 & 4). Relative performance implies no shift over time (eliminating 2). The grade compression implied by grade inflation eliminates 3.
@BoringBiz_ Going further, universities should fund their loans by securitizing them as a pool. Discounts are informative about repayment likelihood. The market offers better programs cheaper funding. Charitable foundations can provide limited guarantees, like a SIB. @BillAckman

In a paper from 2018 (with its origins in my time at CEA in 2003), I illustrate the advantages that would come from means-testing federal health benefits based on a different concept, Medicare Average Earnings: https://t.co/uXcwK5cB1o

@BarronTNews_ No. If they strip this power, then Congress retains its Constitutional authority to impose them. We get tariffs only if Congress legislates them. As it should be.
Harvard students pushed back against a new University report condemning grade inflation, arguing that it misrepresented their academic experience and would add pressure to an already demanding campus.

@AdHaque110 Thank you for posting. When you read these two sentences, what did you think? "Palestine is committed to non-violence in words and deeds. It condemned attacks against all civilians without distinction, Palestinians and Israelis."
Perhaps of interest to folks with social science PhD programs: at Rotman, we added an experimental 3 session "tech stack" training in addition to the math camp. My lecture was "how to do reproducible, open, quick research", aka version control, LaTeX, AI. 1/2
@PrestonCooper93@AEI@WesleyWhistle@MichelleDimino The spread on the securities reveals the estimated default risk on the loans. Philanthropists can guarantee some portion of the loans if they want to subsidize attendance at some favored institutions.
