Never close a trade before it hits your stop loss.
Most traders panic as price moves against them, closing the trade moments before liquidation.
Only to watch price reverse and smash through their target.
If you set a stop loss, respect it.
A trade isn’t over until it’s over.
If you think showing up in front of the charts at the same time every day is “consistency,” here is what I want you to know📝
・What you need to repeat is not the time of day
・Even if you open the charts at the same time every day, if you make a different decision each day, the only thing you are repeating is the “time of day”
・Consistency means repeating the same action under the same conditions
・Those conditions are not something you create on the spot to fit what price is doing “right now”
・As long as you keep making each decision on the spot, what accumulates each day is not consistency but different interpretations
・What you apply consistency to must be something you have already built trust in through testing across a large sample size and practice through your own hands
・Consistency is not writing the blueprint while looking at the chart in front of you.
It is executing a blueprint that already exists.
Direct your passion toward that preparation.
Consistency emerges naturally after trust in your system has been built.
USD/JPY is falling sharply in what appears to be currency intervention.
"If I had been in that move, I could have made a fortune."
"It would be a waste not to get in now."
If those thoughts are making you consider jumping in outside your rules, I want you to understand why chasing that one profit means giving up your success as a trader.
A large candle is price movement.
It is not permission for you to participate.
The moment your question changes from "Does this meet my conditions?" to "How can I get into this move now?" you are no longer checking your conditions.
You are looking at what price has already done and inventing a reason to participate after the fact.
I only look at whether something meets my conditions or it does not.
Price movement outside my conditions has nothing to do with me.
I do not think about it, and I feel nothing.
If you take a trade outside your conditions, whether you win or lose, you teach yourself the wrong lesson.
If you break your rules, jump in, and win, you teach yourself:
"When price makes a big move, I should jump in."
"I should seize the opportunity even if it means breaking my rules."
"The win or loss in front of me matters more than anything else."
If you lose, you regret it and think, "I should have followed my rules."
But that regret is not proof that you understood the value of your rules.
You lost this time, so you simply reversed your judgment to fit the outcome: "Following my rules would have paid off more."
In other words, you are still reinforcing the habit of judging everything by whether you made or lost money.
You do not truly understand why your rules must be followed by looking at the win or loss in front of you.
You build that understanding during preparation, through testing and practice through your own hands.
As long as you let the immediate outcome be your teacher, the next time the same behavior wins, you will swing back and say, "Jumping in was the right decision."
Whether you win or lose, your standard remains the immediate outcome, not your rules.
Missing a large move is far less costly than breaking your rules for one profit and teaching yourself that "the win or loss in front of me matters more than my rules."
That is not seizing an opportunity.
It is training yourself to give up your own success.
It either meets your conditions or it does not.
Anything else is not your trade.
I’ve published a complete guide to trading with probabilistic thinking on my blog.
I also created a free simulator you can try directly in your browser, so give it a try👇
