Will petrol prices rise, fall, or stabilise in 2026?
Energy costs shape everything from transport to processing margins. The direction PMS takes this year could quietly redefine operating costs across agribusiness.
Find out what to expect in our 2026 Outlook.
@Farmexecutive Conservatively, at least 70% of the price cocoa goes directly to the nigerian farmers. The remaining 30% is shared across the value chain. Unlike Ghana and Ivory where farmers get far less of the selling prices.
30% has tax, logistics and operational expenses
@Farmexecutive The price of cocoa in Nigeria is solely based on the international prices. Nigerian Farmers are direct beneficiaries
Ivory and Ghana have been struggling with market for 2 years due to fluctuations, they are the worst hit as a result of the presence of the trading board.

@OpeBee Lol
The market doesn't work that way. You cant control a commodity that you dont consume. And you cant consume a product your population cant afford.
@KarounwiAdini@DrAbioye Subhanallaah, this is not true, the Masajid have continuously been making these Du'a ever since the beginning of the conflict. I have visited at least twice since the beginning of the conflict and I have heard them make Du'a

I have seen some digs about "Ilorin people" telling impudent people to go back to their states, if they hated Lagos that much.
Inferring, that Ilorin is in the North and that Obinna's co-antagonists are from the South.
These things just show a total ignorance of history and tradition.
Ilorin people have been trading with Lagos for generations before "Northern and Southern Regions" or Nigeria came into being.
Trade, Diplomacy, cultural exchange, and so on has happened for generations before British interests came in and lumped different tribes and ethnicities into what is now Nigeria.
In here is an exchange between Emir Shuaib Bawa, 7th Emir of Ilorin and Oba Eshugbayi Eleko, written in Kewu (Arabic).
There is also one from Chief Adamo Akeju, the then Obanikoro of Lagos to Chief to Emir Shuaibu Bawa.
The cover of the letter goes thus “This letter is from the Emir, Shuaibu, the son of Zubairu,
the son of Abdulsalami TO MY AFFECTIONATE FRIEND, ASUBE.“
They are archived and translated by the University of Ibadan archives.
Perhaps If not Samuel Ajayi Crowther, and the British, you wouldn't have heard of Name Yoruba, or Lagos. Maybe that is why you think, it was the British who created it.
It also behoves funny takes about dissing Egba, Ijebu, Remo, people and other Yorubas about taking umbrage to terms like "Lagos is No Man's land".
It's simply because it's Yorubaland.
The Aworis (who come from Ife) extend from Ogun State to Lagos. The same people in Iddo(Lagos) are the same people in Ado-Odo (Ogun).
The Ijebus for example have been trading in Lagos since the 15th century.
The same people in Ejinrin (Lagos) were the ones whose trade blockade and customs duties there against the British caused the Anglo-Ijebu war of Imagbon (Ogun) of 1892.
That closeness is why Kosoko, (King of Lagos) attempted political influence over places like Ipokia, Otta,Abeokuta, Bagadry, and Ado.
When conflict happened between Akarigbo of Remo (Ogun) and Elepe of Epe (Lagos), in 1903, it was why the Ooni of Ife, Olubuse 1 was brought in for the first time out of Ife, to Lagos to resolve the matter.
That consanguinity is why Oba Adeyinka Oyekan (Lagos) was involved in settling the Ife-Modakeke (Osun) conflict in 90's.
Lagos to Osun is over two states.
This ignorance about history, culture and tradition, is why BAT was quickly reminded that the Fulanis, Hausas and Kanuris of Nigeria and Niger Republic were one and the same people.
The Hausas have been trading from Kano-Agadez-Zinder all the way to places like Morocco for at least 600 years.
The Kanem-Borno empire expanded to Cameroun, Niger, Chad all the way to Southern Libya.
All those links aren't severed because of "One Nigeria" or contraptions like states.
These weak attempts at comebacks are because you don't know any history or believe towns and cities in Nigeria started in 1960.
This is the public sphere, come with some intellection.
Saw an assertion on Tribune attributed to Professor Wande Abimbola that Ifa was used to choose Alaafins up until the 50's.
In Oyo Atiba sha, There was no Ifa used to pick Atiba as Alaafin. He was living in Ago Oyo before the Eleduwe war, founded by Oja.
Oja's successor, his brother "Elebu" didn't have a good relationship with Atiba, and after Atiba got rid of him, during a war, Aiyelumo became Bale of Ago Oyo.
After the Eleduwe war, in which Atiba, Kurunmi, Timi colluded with Ilorin against Alaafin Oluewu, and Oyo was defeated, and Oluewu killed.
Atiba returned to Ago Oyo and in some time, by was crowned Alaafin of Ago Oyo.
Aiyelumo, Bale of Ago Oyo was named Asipa, Gbenla rose to be Aare Ago, then Lagunna then Bashorun, after Oluyole's death.
Lajide was made Ona-Sokun. Atiba asked for Tella, his childhood friend from Kurunmi and was named BabaIyaji.
When Atiba died, a crisis emerged because Atiba wanted his son, the Aremo, Adelu Agunloye as successor and Kurunmi (Aare Ona-Kakanfo) refused citing Oyo custom that Aremo had to die.
Ibadan accepted and Ijaiye refused. Even within "Oyo" town, Asipa Aiyelumo supported position of Kurunmi that Aremo Adelu should die, but Bashorun Gbenla refused.
Kurunmi, the Aare Ona-Kakanfo refused to accept the Alaafinship of Adelu.
It ended up in the Ibadan- Ijaiye war, of 1860-1862.
After Adelu Agunloye's demise, the Alaafin was a bitter struggle between his own Aremo, Lawani Agogo-Ija and Atiba's fourth son, Adeyemi Alowolodu.
The Oyomesi chose Adeyemi Alowolodu, and Lawani Agogo-Ija left for Ibadan, where his friend Aare Latoosa donated a parcel of land for him to build his palace at Oke-Aremo.
When Adeyemi Alowolodu I died, his own Aremo, Ajuwon also tried to be King, but Oyomesi rejected his candidacy and chose Lawani Agogo-Ija, who was invited from Ibadan to be Alaafin.
Ajuwon then left Oyo for Ogbomosho.
On Lawani Amubieya Agogo-Ija's demise in 1911, his own Aremo, Siyanbola Ladigbolu was picked by Oyomesi to be King.
All these became kings before the 1950's.
The history of Oyo particularly in the 19th century is fairly documented, at least by Christian missionaries, and the central role of Oyomesi in picking Alaafin's is widely known.
Going to Old Oyo, Oral history and its anectodes lists Bashorun Gaa (and the rest of Oyo Mesi) of installing 5 Alaafins , Labisi,Awonbioju, Agboluaje, Majeogbe, and Abiodun, and removed 4 of them, only to be finally defeated by Abiodun.
What more, Oyo history recounts that, after the coup against Alaafin Aole, and the deaths of Adebo, Maku, Majotu and Amodo, and interregnum in between, the loss of multiple battles to Ilorin and loss of prestige of the title, Oluewu's ascension was near unanimous as many Princes were simply uninterested in the title, unlike before when the Alaafin title was fiercely contested among the Princes, that ensured the Oyomesi always had a split vote.
This "new" version of Ifa picking Alaafin, isn't consistent with centuries of Oyo's rich history documented before this present brouhaha, because Seyi Makinde decided to upturn tradition, sidestep the Oyomesi and bludgeon his way to pick his own Alaafin.
NB::Inset is Alaafin Lamidi Adeyemi with Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari. Inspite of his known history, some "Yoruba conservatives" "Isese Lagba" exponents will come tomorrow when another Alaafin is to be installed and tell his descendants he was a Fulani stooge, just as they slandered Alaafin Bello Gbadegesin Ladigbolu 2, in this saga.
