In Nairobi, Kenya, @UN ASG and UNDP Crisis Bureau Director @ShokoNoda joined international partners for a donor roundtable discussion on advancing durable solutions to internal displacement in Somalia, placing communities, resilience, and long‑term recovery at the center of the conversation.
Discussions focused on strengthening the role of local governments as frontline responders, and on identifying pathways to improve financing, capacity, and inclusive service delivery for displaced communities. Durable solutions require more than emergency response; they demand sustained investment, local leadership, and collective action that leaves no community behind.
We are concerned by the situation in Tanzania and urge the authorities to act with maximum restraint and respect the right of assembly and freedom of expression.

We have received the sad news of the death of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Odinga was a strong voice for democracy in Kenya and a close friend of Norway, where he spent time in exile in 1991.
Kenya has lost a great statesman.
The protection and promotion of human rights, and the empowerment of women and girls, are cornerstones of sustainable peace and development in Somalia” said Merete Dyrud, Norway’s Chargé d'affaires to Somalia.
Press Release: The Government of Norway has announced a new contribution of 45 million Norwegian Kroner (4.5 million USD) to the Somalia Joint Fund’s Human Rights and Gender Window.

At ICJ Kenya, we reaffirm our commitment to transparency, the right to information, and the rule of law as essential pillars for a just and democratic society.
ICJ Kenya, led by our Executive Director Eric Mukoya, was honoured to host Ms. Camilla Ravnsborg Aschjem, Counsellor, Development Cooperation for Kenya and Somalia at the Royal Norwegian Embassy, together with Margaret Komen, at the ICJ Kenya House.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange insights on advancing justice, human rights, and good governance in Kenya and the region.
We look forward to building on these conversations and strengthening partnerships that champion constitutionalism, the rule of law, and access to justice for all.
On #AccessToInfoDay, we celebrate the #RightToKnow. Access to information is the foundation of transparency, accountability, and democracy. Let's champion a world where information is a public good for everyone, everywhere.

Making Access to Information Work:
Today, the KI team, led by our Executive Director @NoraMbagathi, is in Nakuru, holding a community engagement session on access to information.
We are also joined by a team from @NorwayInKenya, led by Ms Camilla Ravnsborg Aschjem, Counsellor, Development Cooperation.
This is part of an ongoing project, thanks to the support from @NorwayInKenya, that aims to empower state institutions and citizens to use access to information to promote human rights and good governance.
We believe that when citizens are empowered with information, they can better engage with and, where necessary, hold the government accountable for service delivery.
