9) For teams that are not truly remote, in-person interviewing will remain a final trust check, because AI won’t replace human dynamics in high-stakes hiring.
If I had to reduce all of this to one line: 2026 will reward companies that combine AI speed with human judgment.
My predictions for 2026:
1) AI adoption will become mandatory and engineers who refuse to use it will be noticeably slower and less competitive. Not using AI will feel like refusing Git back in 2008.
I’m grateful for the people who trusted us while we all figured this out in real time, especially our team and the founders we work with.
Curious, cautious, and excited for next year. Here's to 2026! 🥂
Pull request volume at one of our client companies went up 10x this year while their engineering team stayed the same size.
That single stat tells the story of 2025 for me. Here’s what I saw:
Mentorship has become harder to justify economically when seniors could do the work faster themselves with AI.
I don’t think we’ve figured out where new engineers are supposed to build experience in this world yet.
