@peterboghossian For the politicians, this may be true. But among the people I meet in the street on a day to day basis, it does strike me that there’s a marked difference between then and now.
@AnneTownsend007@JonHaidt@theallinpod I think the answer to this is affirmative, however, one key point is that humans need different types of social stimuli in order to follow the normal developmental trajectory. This is not the case for adults who have already developed the various cognitive and social skills.
@MatthewEGunter@michaelshermer How does one know that Christ is symbolic, not literal? He once lived, did he not? Does the Bible teach that he’s symbolic? Do other sources? Can that really be stated with confidence?
@michaelshermer Hard to tell if it’s dishonesty or just a strong bias coloring his interpretation of the world. Some would say it doesn’t matter, but I do think intentions matter.
@SarahTheHaider Whether the gender/sex distinction is valid, and if so, where the overlap is in the Venn diagram. A lot of debate breaks down because this is unclear.
