An Argentine fútbol star is taking the field, but here at the Zoo, we have our very own soccer superstar: Bocce, the three-banded armadillo. ⚽️⭐️
He’s native to Argentina 🇦🇷, has fancy footwork, a mean bicycle kick and a knack for playing up a foul. Isn’t he a star?! 👏
🐻💦 Water bears … indoor edition!
Our juvenile bears, Cinnamon and Raisin, can’t seem to get enough pool time on-habitat. Plus, they have their very own pool inside, too! Whenever they head to their behind-the-scenes spaces for naps, habitat cleaning, meals or inclement weather, they still have a place to splish and splash!
Clearly, one cub is bringing the calm while the other is bringing the chaos. Classic siblings! 🤣

Even our six-banded armadillos, Becca and Lana, have been showing off their dribbling skills ahead of tonight’s first England World Cup match.
We’ll all be cheering on local lads, Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rogers!

Snootmaxxing with Teddy the short-beaked echidna! Echidnas use their snoot to find ants and termites, and its scoop shape helps dig up food. Echidnas also have a sticky, flexible tongue that’s designed to capture food, even around corners!
Thanks to Educator Emily for sharing!
More sweet puppy moments! ❤️ Nine critically endangered red wolf pups born April 18 at our offsite facility are growing fast and thriving. These playful pups are an important part of the effort to help save one of the world’s most endangered canids.
We compiled every reason you need to visit Lemur Island into one video! 🐵
Come share a space with our family of ring-tailed and mongoose lemurs with this walk-through experience right outside of PECO Primate Reserve. Lemur Island is open daily and included in admission!
A baby Asian elephant made his debut at a UK zoo on Wednesday at just two days old.
On the eve of the FIFA World Cup, the baby boy was given a ball to play with and could be seen attempting a few dribbles and investigating with his trunk.
Join us in wishing Ume safe travels on her next adventure! It’s hard to believe the tiny calf who arrived looking like a little “watermelon on legs” is now a confident, independent young tapir ready for her next chapter. ❤️
Meet Lillia, our newest porcupette. Born on May 3 to first-time parents Sylvie and Lemon, Lillia is the first North American porcupine born in Dallas Zoo history!
Our water bears are at it again! 💦😂 Raisin can often be found splashing around the pool with a wood log in his paws!
Yesterday was National Black Bear Day, but Raisin and Cinnamon, who came to us after being orphaned in the wild, remind us every day why this iconic native species deserves our admiration and protection.🖤

It's hard to believe Crimson was just smaller than this squash! When he first arrived, 3-week-old Crimson was emaciated and unable to stand due to injuries to his back leg.
He still has a long road of recovery ahead, but he’s come a long way. ❤️

Step into our penguin elevator! 🐧 Residents at Penguin & Puffin Coast use this special lift to travel behind the scenes. It's not open to guests, but here's a sneak peek inside. 😉
It’s a …..
GIRL!! 💗🌸🩷🌷💕
Meet Persephone, our little prehensile-tailed porcupette ✨girl✨! Her name continues the P-theme like her mom, Piper and big sister, Penelope! It’s hard to believe she is already 2 months old & almost fully quilled, she’s growing too fast! 🥹🫶
While our porcupine family is not in a publicly visible habitat, they can be seen (though not this littlest one yet) during a Quills & Thrills behind the scenes experience and education or outreach program! 🥳
