@DaleVince Capital Gains and earnings are very different though. Earnings are a simple swap of time for money with no risk. Capital gains are generally only received by putting your capital at risk by investing it to grow the economy. If tax capital gains too heavily, you choke investment
@NuryVittachi @LKTranslator Another option is to consider that every time we have had a real socialist labour party over the past 40 years we have also had 10 years of Labour in opposition.
@otobrglez@EmmaBostian I bet 4 goes hand in hand with the mythical 60/40 split between IC & management.
If anyone ever managed to make this work I'd love to know how and if that didn't actually result in actually ending up at 80/80
@EmmaBostian That the main transferrable skill from when you were actually an engineer was empathy for how engineers feel when confronted with illogical people or organisational challenges.

This is why I support the #DoctorsStrike And last year over 7,000 doctors left the UK for better paid jobs overseas. If you want to save the NHS, you too should support the strike.
Speaking of people being shadowbanned, @JohnCusack doesn't come up when you search for him. Not when you search under "people" either. Not even when you put in his full Twitter handle.
@sexandtheswiss@Carumbad Mine peaked at around 115 to 120. All my training at the time was based on hours and hours of riding at endurance pace, I just wanted to train myself to be able to the longest possible rides. At the time my FTP was about half what it is now so I was definitely much slower.
@WhataBangarang@cyclegaz It's called filtering, do you object when motorbikes do it too? Most motorbikers I know also run cameras for their own protection and to ensure they have evidence for insurance.
@silvercab49@Yashman67 @Anthony23Bryant It's worth remembering electric bikes are supposed to only provide pedal assistance up to 15mph. If they go faster than that and don't require pedalling (like many in London) the police should just nick them and give them 6 points for no MOT
@steviexdavis @Keith99352796 @MayorofLondon Hmm, you know London has an election for the mayor every few years? That's how you sack politicians, you have to convince their constituents to vote for someone else.
@chug3345@tonyfraser24 Co2 is not the only form of pollution emitted by cars, so just quoting co2 figures as a measure of pollution is nonsense. My, non scientist understanding is that ulez is more about nitrogen dioxide.
@flashbanggeorge@chug3345@tonyfraser24 I grew up in London in a small flat where my mum never owned a car. Very few people in London need to drive as public transport is actually pretty good. We choose to because it's more convenient.
@flashbanggeorge@chug3345@tonyfraser24 Actually, I am currently planning to replace my car with something that won't cost me £12 per day as I current drive a 2006 diesel.
If they did a ulez for houses in future to make me fit a heat pump, I would, as it would be an investment I would probably recoup when I moved.
@chug3345@tonyfraser24 Yes, but the cameras are doing a good thing if they encourage people not to drive old polluting cars into London.
Going round destroying them is just mindless vandalism like the morons who set fire to speed cameras.
