@mykola Sounds interesting! Would love to hear more.
Would also love to see you leave Twitter for healthier (IMO) online spaces, e.g. Mastodon. Though maybe not what you actually are getting at.
@littleoldmead@PetreRaleigh Completely missing the point of owning books. It's a personal library, not a trophy case. You think the librarians have read every book in the building?
6 years ago today I went on my last run (pic left) — today I’m 36 and I’ve spent my entire 30’s with #LongCovid struggling to walk up and down the block, or work more than 1-2 hours a day.
Heres 4 things I never thought I’d lose at this age:
Very pleased to say I have a booklet essay in this upcoming 4K release of the absolutely fascinating late Hammer film Demons of the Mind - a cryptic, unsettling Gothic tale that deserves a much wider audience. Coming in April!
It appears CBP may have just straight up attempted to murder this Chicago woman and bragged about how many holes they put in her body. They lied and said she had attacked them first but now have dropped all charges. This is the level of violent lawlessness Trump has unleashed on our communities.
lmao david byrne showed the video of the ice agents tripping over themselves while trying to run after a biker on wacker drive during the “life during wartime” segment of his chicago show tonight
@leo_guinan Okay, I see. You have some policy discussion in there. It's pretty brief, but I see that this is part of a much larger systemic change you're pushing for.
@leo_guinan The problem is corporate power and lack of a counterbalance, from unions or regulations. I fail to see how AI tooling plays a part at all. I can see the appeal behind the idea of a bottom-up-AI to even the playing field with corporations, though.
@leo_guinan > "No system should allow you to leverage your time at the expense of someone else's time.
If your system takes the end user the same or more time/energy to accomplish the same task, that's not actual value creation"
Agreed. You start losing me after that.
@leo_guinan I don't understand why Time Violence is a measure of inefficiency. For the people deciding to employ it, the people with the most power in these scenarios, it's extraction. As you say up top. So they're getting value out of it. So who is the market for this AI?
@PetreRaleigh They're actually quite useful over on Mastodon, which makes sense since there's no algorithm over there other than chronological (the good shit).
Sorry for two Mastodon replies in a row, I try not to be That Guy.
@mykola@tasshinfogleman It's certainly not ideal circumstances, but the current federal occupation here also gives some indication of what our communities are like.
Some articles, in case that's piqued your interest:

@mykola@tasshinfogleman Have you considered Chicago at all? It feels more COVID conscious here than my, admittedly brief, visits to the PNW. Good tech scene, relatively low cost of living (all things considered). And, granted, I'm biased here, but it is the best fucking city.
Robert Peters is a principled leader & organizer with a record of winning progressive policy fights.
He will champion Medicare for All, fight to block cuts to Medicare & Medicaid, and take on the Big Money interests that are corrupting our politics.
I am proud to endorse him.
