@Katy_Faust Sound of Music—the music, the nature setting/home etc, the themes of femininity and masculinity, how Maria’s clumsy girl shtick evolves, how the captain evolves, the courage for anti-nazi pressure! Great movie!
I read every page of the $10 million settlement with Texas Children’s Hospital.
The headlines barely scratch the surface.
Here are 5 things hidden in the agreement that surprised even me.🧵
Fathers are likely spending more time with their children than any time in the past 100+ years, and more on childcare than any point in history.
So it’s interesting to hear so many regrets in the last few generations about too much time away from families—something I’m not aware of a historical analog for.
Over this same period, our society has systematically eliminated the idea of legacy from most areas of life, from attacks on “nepotism” in business world to legacy admissions at colleges to clubs and fraternal societies. In many ways, time with your immediate family is the only time you’re now doing something that directly ties to a legacy.
So perhaps many feelings of regret are driven by a loss of sense of investment in meaningful legacy. Since people now associate that exclusively with time with immediate family, they express a wish they’d spent more time with family, without even recognizing many other activities that historically would have likewise helped satisfy this yearning.
@Georgesantos The idea that a girl can get exactly what she needs from her mother via a man, biological father or not, is spectacularly insulting to mothers. Our roles are not interchangeable. Men are not women. Touching grass won’t change that
Facebook freakout underway in response our billboards across the Midwest.
What about children in foster care! What about step families! What about abusive biological parents!
1. All those children also have one mother and one father.
2. Noticed that those scenarios share something with children who have "two moms" and "two dads."
They all involve loss, pain, and fragmentation for children.
That's the proper way of understanding same-sex headed households. It's just another manifestation of broken homes.
@TomOliverson We will! Texas must end surrogacy’s commodification of children. This starts with policy that asks adults to hard things for children, not asking children to do hard things for adults.

My latest article for @protect_txchild talking about the Obergefell decision, 11 years later. I couldn’t talk about erasing mothers without mentioning the atrocity that is the word “chestfeeding”
- “Mother” and “father” were replaced with interchangeable, gender-neutral terms like parent.
- Breastfeeding is out, chestfeeding is in.
- A biological bond between mother and child, or father and child is seen as optional rather than foundational.

Appreciate this, @albertmohler. I’ll add:
1. If you pray, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” you’re political.
2. If you believe that God’s Word is sufficient for all things pertaining to life and godliness, you’re political.
3. If you believe we’re called to love our neighbors as ourselves, you’re political.
4. If you believe we’re supposed to be salt and light in the world around us, you’re political.
5. If you believe that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Christ is Lord, you’re political.
6. If you believe that Christians are to work for the common good of all people, you’re political.
7. If you believe Jesus has all authority in heaven and on earth, you’re political.
Staying out of the public square doesn’t make us more faithful, it just means someone else will shape the world our in which our children and neighbors live.
If you were effectively discipled by your supposed betters during the Covid years, never forget this & learn your lesson. That includes remembering all the evangelical leaders who completely failed by falling for & promoting this narrative.
@Eric_Conn She’s dead on. The homemaking, culture shaping work of raising faithful young men and women cannot be a retirement of the mind if a Christian woman wants to raise impactful children for the kingdom
