The inspiration for this week's @puzzleoftheweek came from the brilliant @nrichmaths game 'American Billions'. @alisonkiddle and Charlie made a great video about it for @mathsweekldn. Divisibility tests, strategic thinking and creativity all in one. https://t.co/L18XWhHMm1
@AJMagicMessage My musings after a very quick think:
- They can all help
- The most useful question will depend on a learner's current understanding
- (b) feels a more advanced, or at least a less obvious, question
- Using complicated decimals rather than generalising with algebra is interesting
@nrichmaths@FacultyMaths@CamEdFac@Cambridge_Uni Also check out the Maths Fair packs. I just remembered and used them the other day and they're super useful for sorting extra-curricular events hands-on activities! https://t.co/m4BWPsDwXu
It was a pleasure to deliver a remote talk to 400 students from @KocSchool in Turkey today. We discussed creativity in maths and creating your own questions. Hopefully I'll be able to use some of their students' questions for @puzzleoftheweek next year!
I made these diagrams manually for a puzzle I wrote recently. Can anyone recommend some software for drawing solids that would do this quickly? Is @geogebra my best bet?
Happy pi-day everyone! As beautiful as pi may be I deliberately never use it in https://t.co/SYCjKA6kCr puzzles to limit required curriculum knowledge. There's still some interesting geometry in this week's puzzle though...
There's over 120 free puzzles in the Puzzle Library. I've spent a lot of time over the past 6 years writing detailed solutions with extensions and further reading. It's a great problem solving resource for teachers or anyone who likes solving puzzles. https://t.co/ZGocy6Bfkx
If you like this you'll love our "padlock puzzles" in our free, filterable Puzzle Library. They're puzzles 30, 84 and 167. Or just search for "padlock" in the puzzle name.

@MCHSMathsDept @mearnshigh After bronze in 2019, silver in 2020 and silver in 2021, could 2022 be the year the @MCHSMathsDept finally top the @puzzleoftheweek overall worldwide leaderboard?
