Our study shows kidney transplant recipients with NUDT15 genetic variation are at increased risk of early onset (<60 days) leukopenia and severe leukopenia after starting valganciclovir.

A very interesting talk by Dr Madan Bahadur on NUDT15 and drug interaction with ganciclovir (and azathioprine), at the #ISOT2023 causing severe leucopenia. He talked about giving ganciclovir (for Rx of proven CMV infection) once in 4 days in such pts.
