#UDL (CAST, 2016) is a powerful instructional framework commonly used in special education to design equitable learning environments for ALL learners.

3 core principles guide the planning process & lesson delivery:
1. ENGAGE
2. REPRESENT
3. EXPRESS

UDL can support & benefit MLs because it pushes us to become intentional about providing choice, connecting with students backgrounds and prior knowledge or experiences, forming goals, embedding multimodal forms of representation & increasing ways learners respond.

Ignoring languages not only limits students’ participation but also endangers their confidence & identity increasing language loss.
