Women at home, women at work, women in public, young women. old women, women wearing dupattas, women wearing dresses, women in relationships, women with husbands. WHEN and HOW exactly do we get it right enough to not be sexually harassed, beaten, mutilated, raped and killed???
Sorry typo in last post: One heck of an untold story: rape convictions in Sindh have jumped from 5% in 2020 to 22% in 2025 thanks to better procedures and training. More on this tonight on #zhk
@DrSueTariq@ZarrarKhuhro@Huk06 Change in mindsets slooowly happening too. Big difference in our conversations during police trainings now vs a few years ago. Still a long way to go, but change there is.
@ZarrarKhuhro@FarahnazZahidi Me too. But also dialectology, phonetics and socio-linguistics. Basically to be (a much nicer version) of Prof. Henry Higgins.
So the qaum wakes up everyday and decides to hate on some woman - on what she wears, how she speaks, what she does and enjoys - even in her private space - often based on pictures/videos taken without her consent, of course, because every woman is fair game.
Sadly no shortage of men, who don't just excitedly defend sexual harassers, but also talk about its victims + women generally using vile, abusive language - demonstrating exactly why this fight is needed.
Also, #Meesha's harassment case is still in court, so more power to her.
This verdict not only sets a dangerous legal precedent; it also sets a dangerous social precedent--silencing women who are far less powerful & emboldening men knowing that they won't face any consequences. This is why so many Pakistani men are invested in defending this creep.
