We have received reports that Library Systems & Services (LSS) a private for-profit company that outsources library services, has been working covertly with HB’s Mayor Gracey Van Der Mark, a known enemy of public libraries and free speech. She is planning to announce this scheme to privatize our City’s libraries at a February Council meeting. Privatization of HBPL would give control to this for-profit company whose stated goal has been to grow revenues and profits for their investors. Incidentally, HB’s former mayor Mike Posey works for LSS. Help stop this corporate takeover and misuse of our tax dollars to further institute book bans by reaching out to the City Council today. Email them with your concerns at [email protected].
What do we say to our children and our children’s children if we are silent on this?
How can we claim to want to interrupt the school-to-prison pipeline and not see its rubrics here?

Thank you, @CAgovernor@GavinNewsom for recognizing one of the most valuable community resources -- our libraries.
During #NationalLibraryWeek let us also double-down on the fight against censorship and exclusion.
You received $1,306,130 in donations from the NRA.
You voted against the most recent bipartisan gun package in June.
If you’re so “ready to assist” -- start by doing your job and passing commonsense gun laws that will help prevent tragedies like the one today.
