Tbf to Mason, there was some kind of tactical change second half. Styles position certainly changed as he was a lot higher and it helped. Hopefully shows that a bit of flexibility can make a positive impact.
Wasn’t really the big change in performance we needed but it’s a really big result. Pleased for Heggebo too. Hopefully gives him something to kick on with now.
Where I struggle the most is that you can’t see any patterns of play. Bar one movement from right back into the striker there’s no obvious movement to open things up. No runs to create space, just smash it out left and hope.
Pleased to see Gilchrist in, but hoped we might see him tried as a wing back with a back 3 (assuming Diakite isn’t playing at the back). Thought Taylor did ok Tuesday but not sure he was so good to force his way in as part of the 4, but we’ll see. Need Maja and Price to step up.
@_the_a_bis Pressure will definitely build if it’s poor today. I genuinely don’t think the club want to change, but they might be left with little choice
BREAKING: Ajax have sacked John Heitinga after Wednesday's 3-0 home defeat against Galatasaray, Fred Grim will take over Heitinga's duties in the meantime 🚨
If things don’t work out for Mason on Saturday, this potential move for Edwards wouldn’t be great timing, especially with Southampton also looking for a new coach.
🚨Rob Edwards can now be considered the front runner to become Wolves' new head coach. The club has also drawn up a small shortlist of desired candidates as discussions continue over who is best to replace Vitor Pereira. #wwfc https://t.co/SoVUyoTYao
@TheVan I can’t remember where I saw it but it would explain why we waited so long in the summer for him too. Outside of Carrick I’m struggling a little for other suggestions.
@TheVan Need to remember that it is really Mason, Wicky, Mowbray, Mason. By all accounts we wanted Ryan after CC. With that in mind Carrick is probably the best fit of those available, as he’s a similar mould, but would take some convincing.
@psclarke86 I don’t think they have a strong desire to make a change. He’s their man and they waited months to get him. Anything but a win Sat and he should go but even then I could see the club sticking. As you say, that could be very costly, but I could see it.
Last night was very frustrating, but to be fair to Mason he can arguably feel a bit unfortunate. His change of shape did have a positive impact, and take one of 3-4 decent chances we probably come out with a 1-0 win that we’re hoping is a catalyst for better form.
@psclarke86 Maybe, and if it continues to get worse then he’ll absolutely have to go. If he went now I wouldn’t really complain either. I just don’t feel like the club is going to rush into a decision now and I can sort of see why.
