i just shipped a monetization overhaul of my first roblox game that suddenly blew up and has around 100-200 CCU.
my other game with double the CCU is making 10x so i had to fix this one.
will report back with results! below is the before pic:
3 reasons why i add new mechanics to my game without telling players:
1. the mental effort of a player needing to learn new mechanics will become draining over time. the core loop should remain fun and engaging and the same without the new system.
2. if a player cannot grasp the value and mechanics of a new systems with minimal explanation, it probably isn’t worth adding
3. it allows players a moment of skill expression and satisfaction when they find it out on their own or someone tells them about it
what do you think? would love feedback on this way of thinking about new mechanics!
i’m spending $300 on thumbnails, which is 30% of all the money i’ve made on roblox.
if it works? more ccu.
if it doesn’t? valuable lesson
it’s a win win. don’t be scared to sacrifice some quick cash to build your empire.
my QPTR is in the gutter
i’ve been using AI for all of my thumbs. none are cracking over 1%
it’s time to hire a gfx artist
anyone else reach this phase in their game?
how I increased the monitization for my game:
1. if anything requires ANY sort of waiting in your game -> skip now for robux option
2. always have items at HIGH price points (10k+ robux). less people will buy but when they do it will SPIKE your revenue.
3. every time a player FAILS to do something (ex: picks up an item when they don’t have enough inventory space) —> prompt them to purchase something
i started roblox development two months ago
today, i've made around $1000 USD, and peaked at 600 CCU today on one of my games.
all 100% vibe coded, all solo dev.
