Holy shit, guys. I'm so sorry if I sounded insensitive or radical about it and I really really appreciate your kind (and not so kind) words, but I have my reasons to simply step away from NieR altogether. Let me explain more clearly...

Yes, I'm burntout. I've been on the trenches for almost 7 years. I have seen how much the series has grown over the years and I have enjoyed it to the fullest despite all the toxicity I had faced and might have inflicted in early days. I laughed, I despaired, I cried and felt happiness with the story. I'm sure most fans who played the game can relate. I love this game dearly and I tried to support it all these years. My collection and my account is testament to that.

However, I have also noticed the shift. Like I mentioned before, it was hard enough to deal with new "fans" that only tarnished the game's reputation. Very few were actually willing to engage with the intention to talk about the series itself, or learn more about it. And for one who wanted to learn, 10 were just causing problems, feeling bold enough to lecture actual fans about a game they barely touched and only knew through porn. It wasn't even a disagreement thing, but they used Yoko Taro as a shield, arguing that he is a gooner, therefore, they have as much claim as we do when it comes to the game. Granted, they do, but the audacity to be shitbags to actual fans is infuriating.

I understand you will find those kind of people everywhere, but when these kinds of collabs of that genre come up, the situation repeats itself over and over again, and I am tired because I feel the shift comes from officials with them trying to reel in more and more people like that. 90% of the time they are gross individuals that only comment gross things.

As any company and business, they only think of the profit, but I personally cannot keep supporting them when they shift to other kind of audience that, speaking in terms of fandom etiquette, don't bring anything to the table. The company fills its pockets, but fans have to deal with people like that all the time.

And I'm really sorry, but the more collabs they do with games of this genre, if the revenue is good, something tells me they'll do bolder things. I really love the characters, and seeing them being whored out infuriates me. A lot of us cherish those characters because their stories resonated with us. I admired all the details put into them as characters, which is something I try to do with my own characters. I spent hundreds of hours doing lore analysis because it's something I enjoy.

But what do long time fans get? This blatant character assassination? Being reduced to nothing because of greed? Sure, you can keep doing anything for money.

This is a matter of principle, but seeing this situation saddens me, and I decided to step away from the series before my love for it is completely destroyed. I gotta salvage as much as I can before I start hating what I once cherished.

I won't delete my account out of respect for the ones who followed me for both my art and my lore analysis, but I refuse to keep supporting a company who does these things.

If the situation gets better (or if they finally show the new game's development), maybe I'll come back, but I'm not very optimistic about it.

I'm sorry if I disappointed you, but I have been in the trenches for far too long and the ones who have followed me since back then know all the shit I've gone through in the NieR fandom. I need to rest for now.

@mandalorymory That's what I tell myself, but this isn't even solely because of the collab but a mix of everything. The idea of starting over and leaving this series came up at the start of the year, but the New York concert made me keep it up for a while longer xD

A wise advice, but I am the kind of person who prefers erasing all traces of my online self when I finally reach a breaking point and stop liking something. I've been considering this since the start of the year, but going to the concert in New York kinda helped in delaying the inevitable.

Lo cual es triste que hayan llegado hasta este punto porque esa gente no aporta nada a la saga.

Hay collabs que sí han salido buenos porque realmente atraen gente interesada en la historia (como pasó con Overwatch e incluso FFVII), pero lastimosamente la gran mayoría de los que vienen de gachas solo vienen con la idea de gooning o de larpear durísimo hasta el punto de meter la cuchara en asuntos que no conocen.

I think a lot of us have reached the point of being tired of the constant hypersexualization (and I draw nsfw ffs!). Tasteful sexualization I can get behind, but then you see them destroying the characters by releasing skinwalkers that don't even look like them. It's a new low.

@22LE0 Honestly, that's not even the problem. The problem is when the collab doesn't respect the source materials (like the latest one) and do whatever with the characters.

Heck, even N*kke had more decorum and respected it even though I didn't like their weird body proportions.

People have a hard time understanding that enough is enough. A lot of us get tired of the same aggressive pattern and repetition. They have been focusing on tons of collabs (it already feels predatory in a way) and have showed no advances in the development of the new game. Constantly marketing their characters' sex appeal to get attention started to feel like they don't have anything else to show. People get tired of that after years of the same treatment.

Their only saving grace are the concerts.

@22LE0 I don't have a problem with skins. Some I like, some I don't, but I thought the SB one was okay though I personally would have changed a few things about the outfit.
