The first thing Jews should remember about ancient Egypt is that it did not begin with slavery.
It began with success.
A profound essay on how self-doubt is one of the greatest threats to the Jewish people. https://t.co/0Q0tl5jmtP
On this day—September 7, 1941
The British appeased the Arabs, cancelled the Jewish national home, and locked the last remaining door before the storm.
That day, Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden wrote the quiet part down: “If we must have preferences, let me murmur in your ear that I prefer Arabs to Jews.”
His private secretary recorded the same month that Eden “loves Arabs and hates Jews.” Two years earlier, Chamberlain had already given the order: “If we must offend one side, let us offend the Jews rather than the Arabs.”
That preference became the lock on the door.
The 1939 White Paper capped Jewish immigration at 75,000 over five years, then handed the Arab leadership a veto on anything after that. No Arab consent meant no more Jews. It also meant there would be no Jewish state, just another Arab-majority country with a Jewish minority under a leadership that had already denied Jews any right to live there. When the Peel Commission asked the Mufti in 1937 what should happen to the roughly 400,000 Jews then in the country if Britain simply handed him the keys, British officials in the room understood the answer: expulsion or worse. The 1936–39 Arab revolt was rewarded. The Mandate’s purpose was cancelled. The last sanctuary was closed.
What the policy looked like:
September 2, 1939: a British cutter opened fire on the Tiger Hill ship and her 1,400 Jewish refugees. Zvi Binder and Dr. Robert Schneider were killed. The rest were interned.
July 1941: British codebreakers began reading German police traffic from the East proving mass shootings of Jews with body counts in the thousands. The Holocaust by Bullets was not just a rumor inside the government. The White Paper stayed in force.
February 1942: the Struma. A converted cattle barge left Romania with about 790 Jews fleeing the killings, 103 of them children. The engine died. The ship sat for weeks in Istanbul. Britain refused to issue certificates for Mandate Palestine. Turkey towed the unseaworthy hulk into the Black Sea and cut it loose. The next day, a Soviet submarine sank it. One passenger survived. The rest drowned. London already had the shooting reports for seven months. It still said no.
August 1942: the Riegner telegram reached the Foreign Office informing the British of what came to be known as the “Final Solution” — a plan to industrialize the murder millions of Jews in German-controlled Europe with poison gas.
December 1942: the Allied governments publicly acknowledged the mass murder of the Jews of Europe. The quota did not move.
1945: the camps were liberated. The world saw the films of what Allied soldiers found inside. The policy still did not move.
1946–49: the Royal Navy intercepted more than 50 ships. Most of the refugees were sent to internment on Cyprus. They put 52,000 Holocaust survivors behind British wire. Guards still shot escapees after Israel declared independence. One ship was singled out to make an example. In July 1947, 4,515 survivors on Exodus 1947 were boarded in international waters, beaten, transferred to prison ships, and sent to Germany (!!).
Britain did not merely “restrict immigration.” It fired on the ships, interned the remnant, and returned people to the country that exterminated their families.
They did not learn it in 1945 and then close the door.
They had the mass shooting reports before the Struma went down.
They had the industrialized extermination warning while the war was still on, and kept the veto anyway.
After the proof was on film, they still stopped the ships.
The file is not a misunderstanding. It is Eden’s handwriting.
Useful reminder of just how hysterical the media-academic-UN/NGO complex has been in it's political warfare against Israel. There's been an attempt to rewrite the famine hoax as a "warning", but the claim at the time was actual starvation happening on a grand scale in Gaza.
The erudite, angry, powerful @simon_schama on why calling the Israel-Hamas war ‘a genocide’ is a blood libel and antisemitism.
I hope the Labour politicians sitting in the room for the @HolocaustUK dinner felt uneasy.
As the British government considers forcing British companies to boycott portions of Israel, it should be aware that a Florida law that I passed as a member of the Legislature would ban any British company forced to comply from doing business with any state or local government in Florida.
It would also end any British business participating in that boycott from doing any business in Florida if it needed any official interaction with state or local government to operate (permits, tax collection).
Florida is one of Britain’s largest trading partners. They should understand that their vanity project in support of Muslim terror could cost them billions of dollars.
And for those who doubt the power of this policy, it was this same law that broke Airbnb’s misguided effort to boycott portions of Israel in 2019. They realized that this law would have bankrupted their company.
Florida has made it clear. Any company — or nation — that boycotts Israel is boycotted by Florida.
Tisha B'Av commemorates the destruction of the First and Second Temples, located on the Temple Mount, in Jerusalem, Israel. You know, historic and current Jewish territory. Thanks for your best wishes.
@SeamusHughes Hi @seammushughes, several outlets also cite a separate police affidavit. Have you seen this one too? I can't find the text. https://t.co/VU4LtE3VEo
@JSchanzer Do you agree with some observers who says this means the US green-lit the Iranian airstrikes and is deliberately constraining Israel as part of the Obama-Biden team strategy of realignment towards Iran?
@ProfessorPape@Martin_Kramer, I recall you sparred intellectually with Pro Pape nearly 20 years ago over suicide terrorism. Any thoughts on this take now?

This is Anna Laurini. A local street ‘artist’ and regular promoter of antisemitism and conspiracy theories. CST have previously documented Laurini’s horrible views and online posts in our report ‘Covid, Conspiracies & Jew-Hate’ https://t.co/CKk3TXTB5n…
Sadly, tendentious media reporting from the #Hamas-#Israel war has grown commonplace but I have never seen a story quite like the @washingtonpost piece headlined “Israel’s war with Hamas separates Palestinian babies from their mothers.” 1/14 https://t.co/vJ9YjmWfya
A billion people already hated us more than they hated the butcher Assad, and they didn’t need TikTok to get there.
This is basically the Jewish condition.
As long as Hamas are your heroes, we know this isn’t about human rights or ceasefires.
@josephfcox Often overlooked is Bin Laden and AQ‘s obsessional antisemitic conspiracies. OBL’s short letter refers to “Jewish control of capital” & the “Jewish lobby” twice, including “a Jewish lobby backed by enormous financial capabilities”. A jihadism that Marxists can enjoy too.
What does "from the river to the sea" really mean? This is a photograph I took on December 30, 2019 when I was briefed by senior officials in the Palestine Authority about relations with Israel. The briefing took place in the PA HQ in Ramallah, Palestine. This map was shown. Despite the mutual recognition stipulated by the 1993 Oslo Accords, Israel is not on the map. Instead, the Arabic writing where Israel should be says "Land Occupied Since 1948." So, even for the supposedly more moderate and accommodating PA (as opposed to the religiously fanatical Hamas) the meaning of this phrase is crystal clear.
