BREAKING: We're suing.
Along with @KIND, @ACLU, and dozens unaccompanied children detained in hotels facing imminent expulsion from the country, we're suing the Trump admin to stop their expulsion, give them legal representation, & allow them to seek asylum. #FreeThemAll
This is great news. But we've got to keep talking about how ICE, CBP, and DHS keep overreaching without any accountability and acting outside the law in unjust and inhumane ways. There's more work to be done.

The deadline to release children in family det ctrs is Friday the 17th. A judge won't rule until middle of next week on whether or not the parents can join them. Our hearts are aching thinking of the families ICE will try to separate come Friday. #FreeTheFamilies 1/2
Wow. In MIT/Harvard case, DHS has fully agreed to rescind the July 6 ICE guidance and July 7 FAQ, and rescind all implementing guidance!
So no TRO, because the government backed down completely.
Trump taxes dominates headlines, but don't forget impt other case
"The Supreme Court...ruled by a 5-4 margin that nearly half of Oklahoma is an Indian reservation...The decision was potentially one of the most consequential legal victories for Native Americans in decades. 1/2
Warning - Long tweet thread coming. I'm summing up the Harvard v. DHS complaint challenging ICE in its attempt to force F-1 students to leave the US if their courses are being offered online this fall. They lawyers did a superb job. I think you'll find this interesting.
"Nearly half the employees at an Arizona ICE detention center have tested positive for COVID-19, with a guard dying of the disease, and...a shortage of staff has left detainees in their cells without access to showers, laundry and other necessities." https://t.co/QUtkGxuqkM
Any @utep student that needs a 2f2 course to comply with this ridiculous rule by ICE (PS: Abolish ICE), I am happy to offer an independent student, this title or other, to keep you here, learning and contributing.

Green cards frozen, borders shut down, all asylees being turned away, accelerated deportations, pretty much all work visas suspended, international students being kicked out, rumors of a new filing to kill DACA this week - it's a lot to process
New: The migrant family was detained in a San Antonio hotel. One of them had tested + for COVID-19.
Now, despite @raicestexas lawyers' calls for their release, ICE has moved them to Karnes‘ family detention center, where 11 detainees have coronavirus. https://t.co/doSI2seqHa
i’ve been trying to come up with a single justification for ICE’s new student visa regulations and i haven’t been able to. there’s no public health or “security” benefit to it. the point is to punish people for not being american. that’s it
This is bad. ICE just told students here on student visas that if their school is going online-only this fall, the students must depart the United States and cannot remain through the fall semester. https://t.co/8DteVzexLB
BREAKING VICTORY: A federal court ruled in favor of plaintiffs in our class action lawsuit, finding that ICE is systematically violating the law when it takes young immigrants from shelters on their 18th birthdays & sends them to jail. https://t.co/smabFJm3Wp
Asked about the attack, Torrance County Manager Wayne Johnson said, "I suspect there’s more to it than what you’ve been told,” & that he didn’t know if it even happened. Contact him & tell him to do his job & hold @CoreCivic & @ICEgov accountable
