Most of the stereotypes about India in Western countries are true.

The reason you get defensive and try to push back is because you don't fit in those stereotypes and it infuriates you to be judged by the lowest common denominator. You push back because you confuse Bharat, the great ancient civilization, with modern India, the democratic socialist republic, and passionately fight for the sacred honor, philosophy, and heritage of the former, entirely ignoring the crude realities of the latter. You reject the humiliation of a collective reputation you did nothing to create, refusing to be grouped with the lawless, the uncivic, and the vulgar when your own values are entirely at odds with them.

But you're part of the quiet minority. The harsh truth is that the rest of the country, the overwhelming majority, simply does not care. They are a hopeless, unreformable mass of selfish, ignorant, and shameless parasites who lack even the basic capacity for self-reflection. Operating on a primitive threshold for crime and corruption, they are far too pathetic and lazy to care about rules, progress, or the public good. They would eagerly wallow in filth, chaos, and shortcuts just to satisfy their immediate personal greed, leeching off the system while leaving the few civilized people like you to carry the dead weight of a demographic dividend that lacks the decency and dignity to ever grow up.

There is a disease on the roads of Delhi-NCR.

Blacked-out SUVs with tinted windows and caste names prominently displayed.

Oversized tyres with shiny chrome rims.

Political party flags fluttering on the bonnet. If you live and drive in delhi, you have obviously seen this.

The vehicle is usually a Maruti Brezza or a black Scorpio, invariably with the driver’s headrest removed. No seatbelts.

They drive rashly, with a sense of complete impunity, while our cops look the other way and allow this nonsense to continue unchecked.

The traffic situation in Delhi-NCR gets worse by the day. Enforcement is totally invisible.

And then we wonder why people continue to die on our roads.

I’m not saying that drawing different lines automatically makes someone morally corrupt or hypocritical. That’s not the point.

The question is what justifies the line.

“Livestock” describes how humans have historically classified and used an animal; it doesn’t explain why that animal’s life or capacity to suffer should count for less. Chickens, pigs, cows and sheep being bred for human purposes is a fact about our relationship with them, not necessarily a moral justification for killing them.

And dogs becoming companions doesn’t suddenly give them a different capacity to suffer either. It explains our attachment to them, not why their suffering should matter more.

So yes, people are entitled to draw different moral boundaries. But once the justification becomes “we bred this animal for our use and this one for companionship,” you’re still relying on a human-created cultural distinction.

That doesn’t prove that eating meat is wrong. But it does mean the distinction isn’t as morally self-evident as you’re presenting it.

That’s exactly where the hypocrisy becomes difficult to defend.

If the principle is simply “animals bred for food can be killed and eaten,” then what makes eating a dog inherently wrong? What about a horse? A pig? A lamb that can form bonds and show affection?

Most meat eaters draw the line based on culture and familiarity: dogs are companions, chickens are food, cows are sacred to some cultures, and completely normal food to others. But the animal itself obviously doesn’t understand those cultural categories.

You can make an argument for eating meat, but “this animal is food and that animal is not” isn’t really a universal moral principle. It’s largely a line humans have decided to draw—and then we often call ourselves animal lovers while making exceptions for the animals we like eating.
