Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), wrote on X that, according to reports, 38 civilians, including women and children, were killed and 163 others injured in Pakistan's attacks on Afghanistan's Paktika, Paktia, and Kunar provinces last night.

He stressed that civilians and civilian infrastructure must never be targeted, and called on both Pakistani and Afghan military forces to respect international humanitarian law and resolve their disputes through dialogue.
