“Voice of Mississauga” with founder Ashish Fitkariwala and his team did a very in depth interview in my office today. Touched on many significant topics of significance to the future of our city. The more we talk about policy and progress the better! Thanks to the team!
@citymississauga As per recent reports it comes as one of the worst in citizen participation and voting percentage as compared to neighboring municipalities. That speaks for the gap in administration and its engagement with residents. Not a healthy sign while population increase is projected..
@citymississauga Great.. this is being reminded regularly and preparing residents for another steep rise in 2026 and again some helplessness being projected
@TheRealPCB Such has become the state that the countrymen are celebrating that another country agreed to visit their nation. This itself speak volumes of the state of affairs. Introspect why it reached a state like this...
@citymississauga This is like preparing the residents for next increase citing these disparity. Residents are already struggling with mast 9.3% increase and protested for it. Then it was being blamed on police budgets and helplessness of council...
@citymississauga Is that something residents of Mississauga can do about this. Various Govt bodies may may blame each other, however residents are being taxed. If 37% comes to Mississauga, raise concerns continous having residents forums, protest and do what's required. This won't help residents.
@DipikaDamerla Would be good to know the amount, if any, spent tmfor even bringing this till the council for discussion and approvals. The hours, consulting etc. Not sure how such thought even came at first place to have such app
@DipikaDamerla Targeted hate against any specific religious beliefs and communities needs to be called out. Thanks Councilor @DipikaDamerla for bringing this for Hindus of Mississauga
@CohheOfficial@carolynhparrish@DeeptiJolly@Physiowonders Her statement itself is contradicting. *Continuation of unrestricted*, refers it is unrestricted now, which its not. It is restricted by hours, place, dates etc and anyone who came, asked for more enforcement and fines, have balance, as BAN is not a solution
@carolynhparrish@hamjenjen1@A__Kaur@AlbertaWX@CoHNAOfficial@CoHNACanada Very wrong of a Mayor to misquote publicly. I have also been part of delegations, and not once, did anyone insisted on *unrestricted* fireworks. There was clear mandate to have stricter enforcement, increased fines and restrictions on use of fireworks. It was against blanket BAN
Diwali is coming up 🪔
Fireworks for Diwali are only allowed at home on Oct. 20-21 from dusk to 11 PM. 🎆
You need a permit if you want to use fireworks:
🏡 On a different day at home.
🌳 In a park.
Remember, it's illegal to light fireworks on a street or sidewalk. ❌

Lets all be mindful of the compliance and let miscreants not guide policy making. Education and enforcement is the way for city to prosper. Thanks to @DipikaDamerla and all councilors to support the voice.
@VOMississauga@citymississauga
This is a reflection of "Why your voice matters". The Mayor and the majority of council which was inclined towards blanket BAN on use if Fireworks were persuaded to revisit, only because residents/citizens stood up and spoke at council. There was no data to support a BAN.
Since May this year, the one sided agenda to ban was being pushed with city report and other news reports, but the residents stood firm and spoke what they believe is right and where the city had to listen to all. 100s came over 3 delays and dates, to make the city finally agree
@JoeHorneck@Yvh1 @officialHinduCF @citymississauga@carolynhparrish Let data speak.. Appreciate councillor @JoeHorneck .. overall less than 1% of complaints over the year with no details of it, is being given so much push by the Mayor. Not sure what agenda or who is being pleased for votes here...
@BradWButt @officialHinduCF @citymississauga@carolynhparrish Appreciate councilor Butt. Its about efficiency in city administration and how it wants to accommodate diversity. There is no data to support Ban is effective. Moreover where this this stop if less than 1% complaints result in banning it. Not sure why is it prioritized by Mayor
