I know someone who went for a driving test in Mumbai last week.

Applied for 4 wheeler and 2 wheeler with gear driving licence.

He knew to drive a 4 wheeler. Was asked to drive the car a few metres and stop.

Then he was asked to ride a motorcycle with gear. He didn't know how to ride a motorcycle with gear.

Paid ₹1000 convenience fees and passed the test.

He said some applicants just came to sign on the documents, show their presence and went.

Did not even drive a single vehicle.

They all had some understanding with the right people.

RTOs are the most corrupt govt organisation.

It's a shame that even after 3 consecutive wins by the BJP government this has not been fixed yet.

We need to privatise RTO like Passport Seva with the help of tech and non govt staff.

Until then anyone who can pay ₹1000 can get a driving licence irrespective of whether they know how to drive or not.

Not surprised why we drive like idiots on the roads, flouting all laws and killing approximately 1,80,000 people in road accidents in a year!

@nitin_gadkari sir, hope we see some steps to fix this under your leadership.

@KotakCares Meaningless responses continue from @KotakBankLtd @KotakCares and their Social Media team! One Manager calls me to hear the whole story again! They still have the audacity to not read through the chain of events - but insist hearing again from troubled client! Pity this process!

Dear @narendramodi ji,

On a very light note, I propose one mega reform for India: Abolish the Driving License system altogether.
Here’s why:

1. 90% people don’t “qualify” for a license, they buy it. Everyone knows, including RTO, Babus, Ministers. Trust me.

2. Since people don't need to write test, they rarely learn the rules by rule book.

3. Funny part is that people who take the exam seriously and don't bribe RTO officials seldom pass in a single go. Hence the honest ones are punished.

4. By removing the test, gov can save crores of money spent on running the RTO department. It can also get rid of a department that is running on corruption and agents.

5. People who follow all the traffic rules, like lane driving, correct turns, right speeding are the ones who lose the most in terms of time, driving experience and peace of mind.

@KotakBankLtd @KotakCares Had raised a complain on 26th July'25 with Kotak reference number 30419852 for Rewards Accrual/Redemption - and they had said turnaround time for the same is 07 working days. Today is 6th August'25 - not sure how many more days will make their 7days!
