I received this letter from Abby in Silver Spring asking for help. Her landlord acknowledged her "shocking" 19% rent increase but said it was in line with prices in the area. This means if your rent was $2000 now it's nearly $2400. These types of increases should not be allowed.

This perfectly captures so much of what's wrong with the "child welfare" system. 4 children are taken from their mother because they don't have housing. Then the state pays strangers $3500/mo. to house those children. Imagine how $3500/mo. could have helped this mom and her kids.
