We need some Romans 13 in our world. Specifically the verses many forget to read:
Love your neighbor as yourself.
Love does no harm to a neighbor.
Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
How did God respond when Moses, Jeremiah, & Gideon brought their insecurities to Him? Not with affirmations of them, but of Himself.
I’ve never gotten over this: the fragility of thinking you’re the main character of your story…
…and the freedom of re-centering God.
Our community is devastated by today’s events and grateful for the swift actions of law enforcement. May the healing hands of God touch the lives of everyone involved and provide comfort during this difficult time.
In the face of such darkness, we must hold onto our faith and remember evil will not prevail. God will guide us through the darkest of times. Together, we will rise above this tragedy and stand firm in our commitment to love and support one another.
In times like these, our faith is tested, but it is also strengthened. We don’t always understand why things like this happen, but we know that God is in control.
Please join me in continued prayer for healing and peace.
This: “Therefore we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love…”Eph 4:14
America,
we've had 212 Mass Shootings in only 144 days. I hope we, as a nation, do not do what we normally do; argue about the 2nd Amendment, argue that guns don't kill people, etc...
We can do better. We must do better. We have to do better.
Because Christians have been treated with such kindness, such grace, and such gentleness by Christ, we ought as a result to be the most difficult people in the world to offend.
Nowhere does the Bible say to work ON your salvation. Instead, it says to work OUT your salvation.
It’s like working out at the gym every day to strengthen muscles that you *already* have.
Before he even gets to the birth of Jesus, Luke tells of 2 women who would prepare the way. He highlights their faith, their courage, & their calling, & this is one of the many reasons Twitter tomfoolery about women doesn’t bother me at all.
It’s so obviously unlike God.
A professor once reminded me that if Christianity was a tree, American Evangelicalism wouldn’t be the trunk. It would be a tiny twig growing from one of countless small branches growing from larger branches.
Christ is the trunk.
Humility is the only way forward for the church.
