I spent the last year trying to get AI to write like me, and I was doing it wrong the whole time.
I kept feeding it more context. More examples, more voice notes, more history. I assumed the problem was that it did not have enough of me yet.
That was not the problem.
A model will write "she should just take a break" and pass every check you give it. Grammar, fine. Tone, warm. On brand. And it costs you the reader, because should tells an overwhelmed woman she is failing at something, and just tells her it was supposed to be easy. Nothing in that sentence is wrong. It is still the wrong sentence.
No prompt catches that. It is not a grammar rule and it is not a tone setting. It is a judgment about a person. Every word carries one.
So I started writing the judgments down.
The slop everyone is complaining about is not a broken machine. The machine is extremely good. It is that almost nobody has written down what good means, so the quality check has nothing to score against.
If you are producing at volume and you can feel the quality problem but cannot point at it, DM me. I will send you eight to get you started.
🔥🔥🔥 Can you tell them I’m working on an editorial rubric trying to teach AI the unspoken intentions behind specific words. And how each word likely has assumptions and underlying currents in them. Man it would be great if/when AI can learn to do this on its own! At least to help me speed up my own documenting process! ☺️
Yesssss…
Now try that with teen girls and man - it’s a real test! I am now consistently saying to them “I will not be rushed (or pressured) into this decision.” I even ask them to give me 24 or 48 hours to decide. My sweet Type A Taurus will call or text me on the minute- did you decide yet?? 🤦♀️
Underrated life advice: Become difficult to rush. The world will pressure you to rush into everything. Rushed decisions. Rushed relationships. Rushed conversations. Rushed timelines. There's power in rejecting that trend. Pause. Slow down. Create space to think clearly.
@Dostoevskyquot Conversations with God.
A reviewer commented that she finally fell in love with God and I smiled when I heard that. It’s exactly how I feel. 🤍
@cyanosite26@grok So fun! Right now I use Grok pretty extensively and am hoping the UI gets easier. Right now it’s click click click to find anything in and between projects!
I relate to this one! I’ve reading about how the brain works and man… it’s eye opening how your brain protects you from perceived danger. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re undisciplined. Instead, take baby steps, get the reward and train your brain that what you fear won’t actually hurt you.
It’s as simple and as hard as that!
Now this is a great idea! I use AI for side projects and volunteer roles. Nothing as advanced as the fabulous coders and builders on here would do but it’s certainly helping with time and efficiency!
Posted a video on another platform a few hours ago gauging interest in a marketplace for moms that had big careers before babies that still want to work but on a different schedule. Has completely blown up with interest from women. Not fully baked, but something should exist where women dont have to start their own consulting firms but can opt into a role/project on their own terms that are highly qualified. See plenty of vertical marketplaces for “legal on demand” but something more specific for this demographic. Based on the comments so far, women WANT to keep working but need the baby years to be flexible. Anyone want to build this?
It absolutely is a great idea. It’s solid in the legal world but not really elsewhere. Then majority of the “build your business in a weekend” is made for folks (dare I say bros) who don’t have the same responsibilities as women and moms do. Even X here as it seems is great for builders but there aren’t nearly as many women. Would love to be apart of the build. ..
I do a lot of writing and am working on an editorial rubric to help AI with more than grammar and tone checks.
Here's a word I currently hate: Undisciplined.
"Undisciplined" does not tell you what happened that day.
It skips the gaps. It skips the schedule. It just names who you are and walks off.
There is nothing useful to check after a word like that.
It just leaves shame.
Shame is another word I find fascinating... also going in the rubric.
@thejustinfagan@Battle_Dinghy Hey @thejustinfagan -
Looks like a neat thing you have created! I can’t play! Can’t afford another rabbit hole / addiction in my bucket! 😂 Best of luck!
I think this “The third is reducing success to the minimum recognizable version of the output” is the most important line in this essay.
By reducing activity to create more wins, you’re training your brain to capture the wins and in turn make the activity more comfortable and exciting. Thereby- creating the discipline you so desire!
