FOUR ROBOTS FOUGHT IN A HANGZHOU CAGE. THE JUDGES SCORED LEG STRIKES AT TRIPLE THE POINTS OF A PUNCH.

This is the CMG World Robot Competition — Mecha Combat Arena, the world’s first organized humanoid boxing tournament. Four Unitree G1s, each 1.3 meters and 35 kilograms, fought under human operators via VR and voice command, live on state TV.

Scoring: one point per arm strike, three per leg strike, penalties for any knockdown that isn’t recovered within eight seconds. One robot even did a kip-up off the mat after getting dropped.

Under the theater, it’s a live stress test — balance, recovery, and joint control pushed to failure in front of a crowd, which is exactly the data no lab simulation can generate.
