Joe Biden has surpassed President Donald Trump in Georgia, a state where no Democratic presidential hopeful has won since 1992. The race is still too close to call, but it’s a major moment as Biden has now erased Trump’s edge. #gapol
It’s crazy to think that PT school is actually coming to an end. It seems like we just started. All the knowledge & experiences over the past 3 years have been incredible. Just Really bummed about not seeing friends or popping champagne bottles on our last day. #Classof2020 ✌🏻
Having lectures on cardiopulm and the foot were really great reviews of material that are really important for every patient. I feel that I can absorb and appreciate the info more now than I could at the beginning of PT school. Anyone else feel that way?
Today is a nice refresher of cardiopulm and is interesting to reflect on my previous full time clinical in in-patient. Challenging to shift my mindset from OP to IP. Both so different but also very similar.
So much change so fast but Ive been impressed with how efficiently & effectively our community has been able to adapt, especially in the world of PT with telehealth & school with online & zoom. However, this definitely requires more effort on my part to hold myself accountable!
Pt presents with shoulder pain and decreased AROM 2/2 to shoulder dislocation. Supine PROM is limited but they achieve full ROM with AAROM exercises. While they may be hypomobile with inferior glides, guarding and apprehension seems to be their biggest limitation right now.
Pt is power wheelchair bound and hasn’t walked in years. Her goal is to one day walk 40 ft. Today, we walked 60 ft! The power of PT and a positive and motivated attitude! #neversaynever
Pt comes in with steroid neuropathy in a power wheelchair and was told by her last PT that she will never walk again or do her old activities. So I stood her up and walked her >20 ft. Don’t ever underestimate the potential in your patients!
Pt comes in with right side ONLY LBP with radiating pain for years. MRI shows severe central stenosis 🤔 PMHx of >10 previous surgeries and 3 total joint replacements. Posture Ed and ab bracing took away all sx. When in doubt, go back to posture.
Pt is a 24 y/o make s/p ORIF to R ankle 2/2 to MC accident. Currently has screws into both distal tibia & fibular head preventing any DF ROM & causing P! With any mobs. Recommended to have surgeon remove screws to improve joint mobility and decrease P!
Neuro can be very tricky! But don’t let it fool you. Keep in mind your subjective, objective, and timeline and you will be fine! #usc546wk13@juliehershberg
Neoplasms are tricky as they can present like many other neuro dx but the key here is imaging. CT and MRI will quickly rule in/out a neoplasm. Keep those red flags in mind (seizures, progressive neuro deficits etc) and refer out ASAP if present. #usc546wk12@juliehershberg
Pt presents with a worsening right sided HA post CVA with visual extinction, left hemiparesis, probate drift and +babinski sign...probably not a concussion. Right side subdural hematoma perhaps? #usc546wk11@juliehershberg@manjiridahdul
Pt presents with dx of migraines but has SNOOPPPP signs, denies nausea, photophobia/photophobia and has metallic taste with tingling. SNOOPPPP signs rule out the rumors, which then point toward tumors. #rapcred@cfloyd0#usc546wk10@juliehershberg
PSA: if you, a friend, or family member is experiencing a sudden extreme headache and high BP get to the hospital immediately! CT and MRI will tell if a CVA is present. Time is of the essence for rtPA tx! Word to the wise, don’t try to sleep it off! #pt546wk9@juliehershberg
A young pt presents with toe walking, do you know why? You find they have Hyperreflexia with increased tone/spasticity and both LE are involved. Diplegic spastic CP perhaps? #usc546wk8@juliehershberg
