बीते 18 दिन में उत्तराखंड में दूसरी आपदा ने नुक़सान किया है। चमोली ज़िले के थराली में देर रात बादल फटा है। आपदा से जुड़ी घटनाएँ जिस तरह से बढ़ रही हैं, पता नहीं इन हिमालयी क्षेत्रों और यहाँ बसी मानव सभ्यता का क्या होगा। शायद निर्माण, विध्वं��� और फिर नए सिरे से जन्म यही साइकल चल रहा है। लेकिन पहली बार ये लग रहा है कि किसी को परवाह नहीं उत्तराखंड और वहाँ बसे लोगों की, शायद ख़ुद वहाँ के लोगों को भी नहीं। उन्होंने इन आपदाओं को अपना भाग्य मान लिया है और मुआवज़ों पर सेटल होने को “न्यू नार्मल” !
हम लोग भी X पर चार लाइन लिखकर एक चर्चा छेड़ लेते हैं, दिन बीतने और अगली सुबह के बाद वो चर्चा किसी और खबर के नाम हो जाती है।
सरकार और प्रशासन को पता है अभी के नुकसान को मैनेज करना है, राहत पहुँचानी है, फिर अगली आपदा में यही रिपीट करना है।
भारत “विश्वगुरु” हो जाएगा लेकिन जहाँ शिव-शक्ति का घर है, जहाँ गंगाजी बहती हैं, जहाँ शंकराचार्य का बसाया पहला मठ है, चार धाम हैं, और जहाँ ���ागृत शक्तियों का वास है, जो अनंतकाल से ऋषियों की तपस्थली है, वो देवभूमि आपदाओं की बलि चढ़ जाएगी (जिसका एक सहयोगी कारण हिमालय को बर्बाद करने वाले मानवीय कारण भी हैं)
और आइए मिलकर गर्व कर��े हैं कि आंदोलन करके, लड़-झगड़ कर, हक़ माँगकर जो राज्य हमने लिया, वहाँ की प्राकृतिक और आध्यात्मिक संपदा आज ख़ून के आँसू रो रही है।

The most beautiful part of Landour (Musoorie) is also being ruined.
The quiet and beautiful Lal Tibba Road in Landour — one of the most beautiful mountain paths in India — is being destroyed. It is turning into Mall Road.
How can this happen under the watchful gaze of the Landour Army Cantt authorities?
On a road where a sign famously reads “शांत रहिए। पंछियों की आवाज़ सुनिए” (Please be quiet, listen to the birds) cars have been allowed, and bikes, there is garbage and a stream of loudly honking tourists who don’t give a damn about any place they visit in India.
I felt so sad walking on it today. So sad. This is criminal. What sort of greed or insensitivity is it that drove authorities to allow this invasion?
