Blessed to be living in Southport with the love of my life. Mom to six people who are no longer my babies and are quickly becoming adults. Jesus follower.
@SCweather_wx Just read the article - they happen inland too. I never heard them until se moved to the coast. Spent 20 years between Macon, GA, and Fayetteville, NC, and never heard them there.
About 6.75” in Boiling Spring Lakes (measured at 9:35am - snow ended about 8:45am). Melted to 0.35” of liquid, which means our snow ratio was just over 19:1. @NWSWilmingtonNC#ncwx#snow
@NCWeatherhound Please be wrong Please be wrong Please be wrong. Last year’s January storm was enough for a few years, and I really don’t want ice in BrunsCo 🙏🏻
@BobbiStorm In 2011, there was a snow forecast for Macon, GA that was so sure that Jim Cantore came down to cover it. Instead Atlanta had a surprise snowstorm that shut down the city for days. Macon got a coating of sleet.
@BigJoeBastardi It is unfortunate that giving a storm a name brings it more publicity. A name does not measure impacts, but people do not take unnamed storms as seriously. Love the idea of changing the whole classification system.
@justaguyactual1@SCweather_wx Brunswick County (in the bullseye) is well aware that low-cat and no-named storms can wreak havoc. PTC#8 and Isaias are fresh memories. Great point about media/online coverage though.
