@Jesseba20590919@NickTurturro1 100% agree. In non playoff games, notice how many Jays fans get out of their seats to cheer on a pitcher trying to get a third strike with two outs. Now watch a game at Yankee Stadium.
@ryhar46@MrSeventy8 @DocNaismith They come up to Caribana to party with their American friends and then they leave after the festival (or bachelor weekend, whatever). It validates that we throw a good party, not that they want to move their family up here.
@MrSeventy8 @DocNaismith It’s xenophobic, but I don’t know if it’s ignorant. I don’t have access to how NBA players actually think. Chris Broussard does. We might be the ignorant ones projecting our own worldview that Toronto is awesome. And it is awesome, but it’s a very different place than the US
@DocNaismith When Americans typecast Canada, Twitter loves to focus on the xenophobia. But there is merit to what Broussard and others have said. I can feel the cultural differences when I’m in the US. Americans must feel the same here. I assume African Americans feel it more acutely.
@DocNaismith I don’t think it’s an ignorant statement. I live in Toronto but have businesses in southern US. Culturally, very different places. Not just talking about skin colour. Talking about news, bars, fast food. We resemble Europe more than we do America in a lot of ways.
@TorontoStar Open up and all the doctors and epidemiologists say vulnerable will die. Stay locked down and the greater population, including kids, experience significant mental health issues. Both sides right. Whose side should dictate policy?
@LeBronMaclean @JoshuaHowsam I wonder how much the 2015 playoff run factors into Donaldson’s enduring endearment of this team and city? I assume a ton, and it validates just how awesome those times were for everyone involved. Capped of course by Game 5, bottom of 7th, the greatest inning ever played.
@TorontoStar The hubris of this government is staggering. They literally can’t recreate a license plate and have absolutely no track record of innovation in anything.
