@ArashS90964@CitImmCanada this is the questions all imigrants and citizens are looking for answers, apprecited if you could find any official answer from IRCC or related bodies
@MelissaLantsman Then IRCC says IRGC conscripts are terrorists!? Innocent ppl who had no right and were assigned to do their mandatory military service in IRGC! I worked hard to get my Canadian PhD and since graduation contributing to this country and ironically now I’m at risk of deportation!
Hello everyone.
This is Yasna. She is 14 years old, and for almost eight years she has been separated from her father and brother.
Her dad and brother came to Canada as refugee claimants after their lives were in danger in Iran. They later became protected persons and applied for their PR cards, hoping to reunite their family. Instead, their application was delayed far beyond normal timelines and eventually refused.
The refusal was based on the fact that her father was conscripted into the Sepah (IRGC) military—something he was forced to do and never wanted. This forced conscription continues to affect his life, Yasna’s life, and their entire family. And many others.
Years of separation. Years of waiting.
Yasna is asking for help, compassion, and justice so she can finally be reunited with her father and brother.

Special thanks to @GarnettGenuis for shedding light on what is happening in reality, despite IRCC’s ‘case-by-case’ responses. The reality is that Canada has failed to protect conscripts after the listing.
While @KenHardie , a member of the @liberal_party , believes sufficient time has been spent, the outcome shows the effort has not been adequate. As @NazaninAJ correctly pointed out, more than 10,000 families of former conscripts have been devastated due to the absence of a clear guideline (https://t.co/YOPjhhFmis)
Definition of ‘membership,’ has bee already passed by parliament of Canada as a non-binding resolution. We hope @MarkJCarney and @LenaMetlegeDiab would review this file.
For years, we pushed to have the IRGC listed as a terrorist organization in Canada. Thankfully, this became a reality June 2024. We hope the government puts the right resources and mechanisms to properly enforce this designation.
One critical issue was not properly addressed, Iranians who were forced conscripts, with no choice but to complete two years of mandatory military service. Many have proof they did not continue serving beyond that requirement, yet they are now facing severe hardships and restrictions in their Canadian immigration files.
Those I’ve spoken with believe this affects 10,000–15,000 Iranians in Canada. The Trudeau Liberals promised to protect their rights, but it’s clear there are no proper mechanisms in place, or border agents lack the tools to make consistent, fair decisions.
MP Garnett Genuis says the Conservatives have a solution that could easily and should be implemented. We hope @MarkJCarney would review this file.

@kshahrooz@GarnettGenuis@MarkJCarney Thank you, Kaveh. You have heard us and addressed this issue, which directly or indirectly affects thousands of families, including those got their citizenship, Students and families waiting for PR, and families coming to visit their sons or daughters in Canada!
